ATA с МАЛА, A PRAYER Bless thou, O Lord, the avenues We tread from day to day. Be ever mindful of our needs And teach us how to pray. Help us to make our avenues Be always straight and fair And lead to that eternal home Where joy reigneth there. Be thou our guide and teacher, too, And lead us all aright Until our paths on earth shall lead To avenues of light. AVENUE OF TREES F.C.H 3 COMMON IN DEDICATION Because he has been an integral part of the school, viewing us not merely as students—but from many viewpoints and perspectives. Because he, besides giving of time and energy, has dedicated himself to instill in us the knowledge and faith necessary to combat reality and maintain those thoughts which are the only hope of mankind. Because of this, we dedicate the 1963 Flyer to ROBERT ROACH. MUSIC бу D. Because of his knowledge of the needs and values of education, Franklin County High School will continue to set the standard of high school education in Kentucky. MR. Pewdew, Ray Ellis, Miles Harrod, and Roy Bondurant, Superintendent. PRINCIPAL MR. RONALD CONNELLY Everyone connected with Franklin County High School will feel the loss when Mr. Connelly receives his promotion at the end of the year. His leaving us will mean the end of three years of dedicated service. The principal of any school serves in many capacities, seldom being either appreciated or praised. Mr. Connelly has been the capable, amiable leader of our school. ASSISTANT PRINCIPAL MR. E. C. MOORE The job of Assistant Principal of a high school is one which requires integrity, diligence, and discipline. Mr. Elmer Moore certainly has all of these qualities and more. We are all acquainted with his discipline especially! Whenever a problem arises, Mr. Moore is always ready with a solution. He has endeared himself to most students by being his kindly, efficient self. One of the most important de- cisions a senior must make is his choice of a college. Danny Rodgers talks to Mrs. Switzer as to his choice of a college, Frank- lin County is fortunate in having such a complex program for helping students with their c ol- lege guidance. ы ы Е EE KET БАГ йыб, Discussing his schedule for his senior year with Mr. Under- wood, his counselor, Roger Crit- tenden confirms the subjects that he will take. SECRETARIES Doris Jones, Secretary to the Principal and Bookkeeper, and Louise Mitchell, Secretary to the Assistant Principal, perform many services for the school. LIBRARIAN The library facilities are open to all students at any time during the school day. The librarians are willing to help any student if he will ask for assistance. There are many excellent resources with over 6,000 books and 100 magazine subscriptions. · The library has various encyclopedias that contain much needed information for the student. There is a continual flow of new books to satisfy the student's needs. Mildred Gill, Librarian, and Georgeva Hughes, assistant to the Librarian, doing their daily chores. Each Beta member takes pride in supporting these beliefs, and in this way hopes to improve himself as well as his school. Each pledges to apply himself toward the principles of honesty, justice, service, cooperation, responsibility, industriousness, humility, and charity. Our program this year has been designed to bring the Beta Club and the school closer together, for we feel that pride in our club and pride in our school go hand in hand. The ideas of the Beta Club can best be summed up by these following words from the Beta Creed: Knowing that if I am tolerant in the appraisal of the ideas of others; generous in the use of my world assets; considerate of the rights of others; courteous in my actions toward all alike; gentle in my efforts to correct errors in others; kind in the exercise of my duties ү I shall then be better ablé t Бы, the happiness) m М ath s .w | У af y, e ка |“ i 121 Left to right: FIRST ROW: E.
