CLASS PROPHECY It is the year 1975. We are attending the first reunion of the class of '55 which is being held at the Bellview Hotel, the largest of its kind in the world, situated in the heart of that thriving metropolis called Franklin. Upon entering the spacious lobby, we are ap- proached by a former Bellview bellhop known as Don Boris Jones, who is now a nationally known choir director. Don agrees to show us around the place and heads toward the ballroom. On our way there, we see Shirley Phillips, famous Egyptian danc- er, very intrigued by the movement of her hands. - As we enter the ballroom we see Fay Matthews, better known as Liberace, seated at the piano. Dancing at one end of the floor are Helen Wolfschlag, Roberta Ral Weekly, and Jeanette Tapscott doing their famous dance of the seven veils. Fay is being accompanied bv Bob Blowing Wild Lamphier and his mad cat trio which consists of Bob Townsend and Roger Gill We now leave the ballroom and, rush to the auditorium where a basketball game between Frank, Weav- er's Barnyard Buckshots, and Roy Adam's Franklin All-Stars is about to begin. We enter just in time to hear the final strains of the 'fStar Spangled Bannerw being played by Connie 'tGeorge Richardson on her violin. When the lights go on again, we see among the cheering crowd Barbara Fisher, world's champion hog caller, and that second-hand furniture millionaire, Jim Nash, known as the Money Mad Millionaire. Leading the cheers is Donna Walters, wearing a tailor-made F sweater. It was given to her by Tom Curly Locks Handley, who has been nominated as the oddest speaker to entertain at Bellview. ' to June Also in the crowd we see Marianne Twinkle Toesi' Earl, who teaches the Huckle Buck,- Duckett's three children by her sixth husband. Sitting behind her is Betty Short, Hollywood's. triple-threat singer, dancer, and actress-who has just recovered from a nervous breakdown caused by smoking too many mild, mild Chesterfields, manufactured by Dora Barger. Dora decided it would be cheaper to buy the factory than to buy them by the pack. As we look into a far corner we see Mary Alice The Killerl' Bowman and her coach, Wilma Strangler Coffman, moaning over their latest defeat by world's heavyweight wrestler, Phyllis Hip Lock Julian. Not far from them is Bill Cameron, confirmed grouch, talking to Lowell Hendricks, the international playboy, who has just divorced his tenth wife. Sitting on the opposite side of the Hoor, we see Dan Fingers Murray, the famous artist, and Shirley Duncan, his equally famous model, watching the game with vivid interest. Sit- ting next to her is Loren Hendricks, Franklin's only batchelor, talking about Jim Mullikin, notorious for crashing the parties of famous Indianapolis celebrity Pat Hattabaugh. Jimis most recent episode was crashing the big shin-dig in honor of Richard Waltz, only American citizen to own an automobile. Everyone else is fly- ing the new Chevrolet helicopters sold by Ronnie Scott, president of the Ford Motor Company. Nearby we note Charles Wood, who has just left Ann Sanders for the seventh time, talking to marriage counselor, Mary Etta Harmon. D ' ' - . . . aydfeamlng nearby is Ann Childs who has just won a free trip to the Florida Naval Base by stump- glivihe panel of 1119311 Vif1S0H, The'-fra Heston, and Richard Ratliff on Steve Suckow's I've Got A Secret' We now leave the gym and go to the main building. Here we see apartments on each side which are the homes of our many friends. We peek in the apartment where Claude Croucher is recovering from a re- lapse over his last boxing bout in- which he was defeated by Frank Haubry, Mr. Universe of 1962. In an- other room we see Don Campbell lying flat on his back, paralyzed because he thinks he was shot by a Mar- tian space gun operated by Commander Judy Helm of the Space Patrol. In the next apartment playing cards, are Steve Bryant, inventor of the soleless shoe, Floyd Peyton, owner of Peyton's Pure Milk Company, and Bob Craven, president of Franklin University. ....24-
