BOB MEYER . ZACK MCLEES President Vice-President JOAN DeMILT ELKE KAUZ Secretary Treasurer X 1 2 'Q E. 1 Q . QF., J Q ' t - use-.Q - :q gq Ig ?5?f'vwi,5,g.fmQ1ifH. - g'gzkf5ZsY5. f . -. f 'Eff 5 'f- , emma Slang The junior year, the year of decisions, placed many challenges in the path of those who stepped up to meet it. The unfamiliarity and uncertainty of the sophomore year was past and the future presented new and exciting possibilities as the juniors took a look at what was in store for them. Many began preliminary planning for colleges or careers by reading college bulletins, looking into scholarships and job opportunities, worrying about College Board Examinations, and wondering who would be honored by membership in N.H,S, Many, too, took advanced courses, such as English and Advanced Mathematics, as added preparation for the future. Traditionally, the Junior Class has been the important cog in the wheel of school life because it has had to raise money for the Prom. This year's class was no exception. They began to function by electing their leaders for the year in October. The campaigns were fast and fiercely competitive, with candidates attempting to gain strength by consolidating, while more optimistic souls struck out on their own. The final results, BOB MEYER-President X ZACK MCLEES-Vice President JOAN DeMILT-Secretary ELKE KAUZ-Treasurer promised fine leadership for all undertakings. - The first of the string of money-making projects was the sale of cake, hot dogs, soda pop, candy bars, and coffee at the three home football games and basketball games. The climax of the football season was the Homecoming Dance, held, after much deliberation, at the Kurhaus in Bad Vibel. Ken Henson acted as M.C. while the Special Services band provided the music. The entertainment was by courtesy of the Klicks, ever popular with their repertoire of popular music and new white sweaters with green letters. The decorations, hearlding the coming of fall, included greenery, flowers, and paper footballs and were very appropriate considering the place where the dance was held. Mr. Moore presented the queen and court- BONNIE SIMENSON-Queen BOBBIE ROBERTSON SUE GRAHAM JOAN DeMlLT PAT HANNON CAROL WILLIAMS SUE TOPP with bouquets of flowers. The dance, as planned and executed by Juniors, was successful. During the end of November and beginning of December, the juniors increased their treasury as well as the knowledge of the students by selling Plastic Data Charts qData Review Sheetsj for 754: apiece. The Student Directory, containing the names, telephone numbers, and European and Stateside addresses of all students, was published during the second semester and contributed more toward the success of the Prom. Highlights of the second semester were the Variety Show, featuring talent from the whole school and centering around a basic theme, and the Junior Class Play. The climax of the year for juniors and seniors alike was the Prom, held at the Casino and given for the -seniors by the juniors. Much work and many headaches went into the planning of this long-awaited event. It showed how much the juniors had profited by the experiences of the year. As the year ended, the juniors put the final touches upon the walls of their High School career. They have built well and are now looking forward to finishing this house so that it will stand as a sturdy basis for life.
