148 Fm dad The Pep Club, an outgrowth of G.A.A., was formed to promote school spirit in the classroom, during athletic competitions, and throughout the school as a whole. These girls, headed by President Betty Gooden, dressed in short black skirts, black sweaters and white gloves, socks and sneakers, performed for the home football games . Their formations , such as the Franldurt F and the moving drills Qbottomy, took diligent practice as well as a good memory. The Russelsheim Fasching Parade was the climax of the' year and a fitting con- clusion to their season of marching fleftl. Basketball season saw the club forming a precision cheering section which waved gold pompons to the rhythmofeachcheer.Besides performing at all home games, the Pep Club assisted the cheerleaders in representing Frankfurt at the Heidelberg game.

Children's faces, wreathed with smiles, are turned toward the girls who entertain them, while older patients forget their ailments for a while as they watch a talent show. Some are reading birthday cards, While others Work crossword puzzles to pass the time. Vases and ashtrays brighten up the wards, as do the smiling faces of the Junior Red Cross members who have contributed their time and talents to the hospital throughout the year. A When not performing for an athletic event, the girl's used their combined talents to boost school spirit in other ways. Their first project was to put together gold pompons for their own use. Camilia Mason, Janet Robinson, Carol Floyd, Lee Samson, Mary Ed Cronk, and Gerta Baruta Qtop rightb put the finishing touches on several inthe upstairs lobby. For the basketball tournament, they made and sold small felt pennants. The table in the main lobby,presided over by Lee Samson and Karen Follman, was continually popular during the two days before the games Qtop and bottom lefty. But much pains-taking work was necessary, as the engrossed faces of Pat Grier, Kay Teasley, Sharon Jenkins, and Betty Gooden fbottom rightl show. The club's final contribution was the hosting of a banquet for the visition teams and their cheerleaders , sponsors , and coaches .
