.lk Quanta, if . fag S, asf! yaccw Deadlines, deadlines, deadlines . . .Were constant problems for the yearbook staff as they laboriously prepared the Frankfurt Focus section by section for an on time delivery into the hands of the publisher. Orderly confusion reigned as opinions and criticism freely flew among the Focus staff members. Daily tasks, assigned by the editors and Miss Solman, the advisor, brought each page closer and Clos er to completion. Knox Herndon and Buddy Hickman Qtopl, the photographers, prepare to take an all- important division page shot. Judy Dunn Qsecond lefty types copy, a job that takes much concentration. Jaci Wallender fthird leftl selects pictures to fit already layed-out pages and passes them on to Carol Wells fbottom lefty who crops them in the proper proportion for the layout. All of these steps were time consuming and necessitated long, sometimes frus- trating, hours after school. Bobbie Hines and Elaine Isaacs fbottom rightj co-business managers, copy names and add up countless lists of numbers to keep the expenses in order. La, F?

How much have we got? Bobbie Hines, co-business manager, assisted by Kathy Harrington ffrontj, Barbara Allen and Bobbie Robertson frearl count money from the yearbook sales. Joyce Cyzick, JoAnn Lee, and Buddy Hickman, doing layouts, furiously race to meetthe second deadline which, by the way, we missed. Vi Joyce Cyzick, Kathy Harrington, Carolyn Grimes,Mary- Margaret Brigida and Judy Dunn check copy and paste on labels identifying pictures as they rush to meet another deadline. Marsha Taft, fat deskj reviews the copy schedule while Sue Payne, Elaine Isaacs, Bobbie Hines,Jeannie Huffman, and Carol Wells discuss the best way to present the FOCUS theme. 746444 The Talon, a literary magazine started by the Junior Advanced English Class last year, attempts to collect the work of talented students and publish it once a year. A place on the staff was given to any person who was willing to work hard on his own time, because the publication could not be given club status. The Editor, Bonnie Simenson, fsecond, rightj and Assistant Editor, Steve Blake, co-ordinatedthe maga- zine, proof read all of the articles, and took care of business details. The sectional Editorsg Literary, Bill Sandallsg Poetry, Marsha Taftg Features, Jerry Andrewsg Music, Karen Johnsong Travel, Gene Betitg Art, Peter Carelsg Humor, Kathy Barrg and Sports, Dick Pavlis and Walter Mackeyg with the help of their staffs, were responsible for collecting, editing, and laying out all material pertaining to their subject. Jacque Baker and Marsha Taft ftop rightj discuss a layout for the Poetry Section. This meant asking English teachers for material and keeping their ears open for talented people to contribute. All work was done at home or after school, with an occasional meeting to check progress. The money collected from the sale of the magazine at the end of the year was used for a scholarship for one of the staff members and several attended the Publications Banquet and received awards. 137
