Cropping pictures, laying out pages, writing endless copy which is inevitably torn up and rewritten . . . these are all a part of a day's assignment for the budding journalists who are members of Quill and Scroll. Sponsored by Mr. Kraft and under the leadership of Bobbette Melvin, Secretary, Marsha Taft, Vioe-Pres- identg Carol Wells, Treasurer, and Jeannie Huffman, President ftop, rightj this organization, a national honor society for journalists, requires a B average in grades and recommendation by a publication advisor. The students meeting these requirements were inducted during a formal candle lighting ceremony fcenter, rightj during which pins and membership cards were presented. Shown receiving his pin from Irma Watson is Dave Ptak, editor of the Eagles Echo flower, rightl. To start the year, officers Bobbette Melvin, Carol Wells and Jeannie Huffman attended the Winterburg Leadership Conference where problems of club organ- ization were discussed and solutions presented to its members. Various money-making projects throughout the year made possible the goal of a 550.00 scholarship to be awarded to a promising student specializing in the field of journalism. A perfect end to ajournalistically successful year was the long awaited Publications Banquet held in May for all the members of Frankfurt's literary staffs.
