Each member was proud to have been a part of the team and each player shared some exciting moment. Every member on the squad had their mind and heart set on going to the state basketball tournament. It was a major disappointment to the seniors when the dream of a state championship came up short. 79

Baker, P. Moreland, T. Pyles, C. Tansil, T. Scott, E. Dersin, B. Dayton, Coach Phillips, Coach Foley. The 1981-82 Falcon Varsity Basketball Team finished a successful season with a 14-8 record. The team started the season by winning two in a row before being halted by the number one team in the area, Fort Hill. The Falcons entertaining their own annual Christmas Tournament were stopped again in the first round by University High. They won the consolation game over George Mason to obtain third place. Starting their win- ning ways again the Falcons won three in a row before losing two in a row to Keyser and Moorefield. Now half way through their season, the Falcons went on a tear by winning seven in a row, one against Keyser, this was the first time they had beaten the Golden Tornado since 1979. Rated number four in the area, Frankfort faced number one rated Fort Hill and again were edged 56-53. The team then traveled to Moorefield and avenged an earlier loss by crushing the Yellow Jackets. The Falcons ended their regular season by losing two in a row to Hampshire and Jefferson. In the Sectional tournament the Falcons were upset by Petersburg in overtime 70- 66. With their successful record, the team won a share of the P.V.C. title and were also the Mineral County League Champions.
