46 Claudio Arce Venegas is the 1981-82 A.F.S. student at Frankfort High School. His hometown is San Antonio de Belen, Costa Rica, which is a small industrialized town about one-half the size of Cumberland, Md. There he lives with his mother, Aracelly, and his father, Edwardo, who works as a market manager. Claudio has two sisters, Gabriela, 14, and Milagro, 13, and one brother, Eduin, who is 16 years old. During his stay in the U.S., Claudio’s host family is the Robert Cooper family, who live in Fort Ashby, WV. Claudio enjoys playing all sports except football, which is not played in his home country. He especially likes basketball, as he played on his high school team in Costa Rica. Claudio also took part this year in intramural basketball here at Frankfort as a member of the “War Pigs.”’ Claudio decided he would like to come to the United States as a part of the A.F.S. program to gain a better understanding of the English language and to learn more about American culture. He will very much miss the many new friends he has made during his experience in the United States.
