On the hot, rainy evening of Thursday, May 27, 1982, one-hundred and forty-eight graduates said farewell to Frankfort High School. The guest speaker for the ceremony was the Honorable A. James Manchin, West Virginia Secretary of State. As the ceremony proceeded, many of the seniors began to realize what graduation signified. It was the end of twelve years of growing, of making friends and memories. Even though some days went slower than others we stuck it out. Now we realize that the past four years have been the best years of our lives. Commencement also meant the beginning. College, work, and the long-awaited independence were in front of us. Our slates were wiped clean and the graduates realized it was time to start anew. Michele Clayton delivered the senior address. Beverly Felton gave the welcome for the ceremony. Debbie Huff introduced the guest speaker, the Honorable A. James Manchin. 125
