The Frankfort “‘Falcon’”’ Marching Band Gy : ;ankfo rt ‘ as ons oo no oe A PS For the past six years Frankfort has been known for its athletic organizations. While the area was busy watching Frankfort football and basketball the band was slowly mak- ing its way into the spotlight. The 1981-82 season brought a lasting reputation to the band. The ‘‘Nobody does it better’’ cliche came true for all of the band members. With the help of Steve Taylor, Rodney Powers, and Lorainne Eckard of the FHS band caught the “Mountaineer Spirit. ‘Your Mama” and the ‘Pride of Frankfort High School”’ were two sayings that were not easily forgotten. Hours were spent practicing after school and at band camp but none of the members put in more time than their director, DuWane Sandlin. He thought that writing the drills was difficult! Drilling them into the kids’ heads was the real task. The band would not be where it is today if it weren't for his dedication to the band program. Mr. Sandlin, the pride of the band members, the Band Booster Organization, and the support of the area all add up to one thing: Our band is number one! ‘‘And that's a fact Jack!”
