However, the aspect of the 1978-1979 school year that stands out most clearly in my mind is the tremendous pride of both the school and community. This pride is evident in the positive attitudes of our students and fac- ulty, and can readily be witnessed in our fine athletic and music pro- grams. 1978-1979 has been a year of change for Frankfort High School. Through the cooperation of the student body, faculty, staff, and com- munity, we have attempted to improve Frankfort High School. Let us all strive to make the 1979-1980 school year more satisfying in order to preserve the pride and traditions of Frankfort High School. V F P R | N C i P A L _ Donald H. Knotts Society's hope for the future lies in your ability to meet tomorrow's challenges. By now you will have left Frankfort High to be caught in the middle of those challenges. Remember that as you meet these challenges, they may best be met with desire, hard work, determin- aon, and perseverance. These are the ingredients for success, and from success, you will discover the joy that comes from a job well done. Best of Luck to the Class of '79! 19 Robert Woy Lloyd Wint A Phys. Ed. Our seniors have been out- standing in their playing and leadership. I would like to thank my assistant coaches and the Falcon football team for a very enjoyable season. COACH FAZZALORE This year's Falcon football team has been both interesting and fun to be with as a coach. We have tried anumber of new things, and the players have adjusted to them to make practice fun and the games exciting. The thing I have enjoyed most about the year was watching our seniors provide the kind of leadership a good football team needs and seeing the young boys mature both as indi- viduals and football players. COACH MANNING The spirit, ability, and strength of a ball team are not always reflected in that team's record. The 1978 JV's worked hard to help prepare our varsity playersfor the opposing teams this year. Effort and determination characterized this ball team as they became stronger and more competitive as the season progressed. Iam proud to have had the opportunity to be a part of this year's junior varsity team. COACH PHILLIPS MANAGERS The managers are an important part of the foot- ball team. They always help the coaches and players. They are guys you can always depend on. We salute Rodney Powers, Gary Bradshaw, and Jay Manning for the great work they have done. We will not forget to mention the hustle done by Brian Largent and Harry Bradshaw who are not pictured. Their terrific spirit and determination along with their de- sire to win helped them through their losing games, but their great con- fidence always brought them through with good sportsmanship. Row One, Left to Right: Susan Jeffrey, Rhonda Stoffle, Alona Beam, Su- san Blauch, Jill Snyder. Row Two, Coach Pat Brakeall, Penny Shriver, Dana Crone, Tammy Combs, Angie Everett, Julie Kephart, Shari Scott, Valerie Layton. Using the word ''determination!' as their forte, the girls had a very successful season, winning the PVC title for the second year. They compiled a season record of 19-1. The success of the team was due to the hard work of all of the girls, basketball being a year-around project with them. With dedicated girls who are willing to give up their free time, and an All-State player like Dana Crone, what more could a coach ask for? The managers are the unforgettable peo- ple in the background. They are the ones who are always there with the team but get little recognition. We would like to thank Debbie Burkett, Pam Malone, Nellie Moreland, Mary Mason, and Corinda Reall for their service to the team. HnoO OY ROWDY 103 FALCONS FIGHTING FOR Hey, I can't reach it! Although our record of wins and losses is far from being im- pressive, Melvin Hartman was an individual standout, who as | team captain, set competitive goals that should inspire Falcon — Harriers for years to come. His efforts earned him positions on the ALL PVC Cross Country Team and the All Area Cross Coun- try Team. Another encouraging aspect of the 1978 season was the number of dedicated freshmen who entered our program. If this trend can be continued in the future, the Falcons will come of age in Cross Country. This possibility is supported by another individ- ual standout, Butch Vanmeter, who earned positions on the All Freshmen PVC Cross Country Team and the All Area Freshmen Cross Country Team. She achieved her athletic prowess:through hard work and dedication. She never believed that her ability would carry her so faras to the University of Mary- land. Dana has participated in sports because it is a personal challenge to dis- cipline herself, and it keeps her mentally alert for her academics. She feels let down and disappointed when she loses a game. She believesin order tohavea winning team, the team needs a good attitude, desire, determination, unity, sac- rifice, confidence, unselfishness, discipline, and especially HARD WORK! Dana feels that a good sportsman will accept defeat and not makeexcuses for a loss or blame other members of the team. She believes that sports are good for school morale and says that fans help build up the team's confidence and enthusiasm and can make a big differencein close games. He was unaware that his athletic ability would play such an important role in his future. He has participated be- cause he enjoys sports and is competitive. Allen says that attitude, sportsmanship, discipline, and unity make the basis of a winning team. To Allen, sportsmanship is winning without bragging and losing without complaining. He feels that sports are good for schoo! morale, and says that when there are fans behind him, he plays much better. Among his fondest memories at F.H.S. is the year the school opened because all his friends joinedtogether peacefully when the consolidation took place.
