Junior Class Plays In November the junior class presented three one-act plays, the first class plays ever to be presented in Frankfort’s auditorium. Each play had a separate cast which worked long and hard to prepare a program that everyone would enjoy. Although the primary purpose of the plays was to raise money for the junior class, they also provided various juniors with the opportunity to ‘ display their acting ability as well as to have fun. Broadway Comes To Mineral County! There have been a lot of ‘‘firsts’’ at Frankfort High but none quite as delightful as the first musical. With nothing but the script and music, Mr. Ott and Mr. Valentine began their search for an A-1 cast. They got it! The award winning performances by Charlie Brown (Chip Clites), Lucy (Ruth Coffman), Snoopy (Doug McKenzie), Patty (Lisa Robinson) and Linus (Phil Douthitt) could never be surpassed by another high school production. ‘‘You’re A Good Man, Charlie Brown’’ is a musical comedy hit that shows a day in the life of Charlie Brown. Our cast, however, put in a few different scenes than the original, like Snoopy splitting his pants during ‘Rabbit Chasing’’ — but we won't talk about that! Our young audiences loved the whole performance, but the favorite of all who watched was Snoopy’s ‘‘Suppertime’’. The cast was backed up by a chorus who helped out on numbers like: ’’ Baseball Game’’ — which Charlie Brown joses, of course; ‘‘Glee Club,’’ and the tear jerking ‘‘Happiness.’’ The talented combo can’t be forgotten because the members of the play would be nowhere without them. It was a joint effort on all sides, and when on the night of our last performance we got a standing ovation, we knew that it was all worth it!! | %
