102 Although the secret of success for the girls’ 1977 basketball season was hard work and outstanding team effort, there were a number of individual highlights. Not only were Dana Crone and Debbie Lambert the team’s top two scorers, but they also were both named to the sectional, state, and P.V.C. all-star teams. From the coaching ranks, Mrs. Brakeall not only coached the team to the sectional, regional, and P.V.C. Championships, but also topped off the year by being named the P.V.C.’s woman coach of the year.

Girls Plod Forward With Determination The 1977-78 Girls’ Basketball Team had a successful season, finishing with a 23-2 record. As well as winning the PVC, the Frankfort girls also won the Sectional and Regional Tournaments which qualified them to pariticpate in the State Playoffs. The team was led by the strong scoring of Dana Crone, Debbie Lambert, and Cindy Light. Dana proved to be adept at stealing the ball, while Debbie and Cindy were instrumental in pulling down numerous rebounds. 104 Also turning in strong performances which contributed to the team’s impressive balance were the two remaining starters, Sarah Riley and Alona Beam, whose defensive play forced opponents into numerous turnovers and broken plays.
