The heights of success can only be reached by climbing an intelligently organized ladder. Climbing this ladder is usually a slow process which must be started with the conditioning step. We must condition our general motor ability, mental, emotional and psychological abilities. The ability to select, develop, and apply your skills in these areas will be a determining factor in whether you win or lose in accomplishing your goals. Donald H. Knotts As we conclude the second year of Frankfort’s operation, we can reflect upon the cooperative effort of our faculty, staff, and student body. It is with mutual respect that | commend those outstanding educators, students, and a most generous community that have cooperated to make our short history so outstanding. | believe the spirit of the Falcons will continue to enhance our heritage, and | am most grateful for the opportunity to have been a part of Frankfort High School's growth. Dr. Charles L. Coffman In Memory Of Pamela Ann Shipley . | Remember Pam... She was always full of excitement and made eveything a lot of fun. | guess that’s why | liked to be with her so much. We went so many =| places together — the summer at the beach and many ballgames. But Pam and | could have fun doing anything. Just riding around town was a ball. | recall a day we were riding through Cumberland last year. | had stopped at a red light when all of a sudden, sirens started screaming and lights started flashing. Police cars went flying past us. Pam was thrilled. She shouted, ‘‘Follow that cop car!’’ So we did. When we got to the place, we couldn't see anything but cops and flashing lights. Pam had me driving around the block three times. We followed cars, an ambulance, everything, asking everyone on the street what had happened. No one seemed to know, and it was not until much later that we heard on the news that there had been a robbery and one man was shot. That was sad, but I'll never forget that day. Pam and | were caught up in the excitment and she loved it. She was an exciting person, full of fun, and my best friend. Melody Evans In Memory Of Henry Rush Williams = riank When | was younger, | looked for something all people look for. | was looking for a friend. You know, someone you could talk to. | mean tell everything. Somewhat a counterpart, Something needed to fill the heart. And as most do, | did, | found a friend. ; And as it went on and on and we talked and rapped, No one would ever think it would end. And though he was my counterpart, He was a lot of others’ too. He had something to do with everything and anything. He was always there with his many faces; He was always there to fill the empty spaces. But tell me now. Did you ever wonder if there was a reason why he had to go... You and | can’t say; only God knows. It concluded with a rousing send-off for the team. 82 football le at +h _ iA en a Explosive Eleven Football Mentors Reflect The 1977 football season could not be considered a completely successful season. In order to be completely successful, a team must play with emotion and pride. | feel that midway through the season, we lost both of these factors. This Is in no way a reflection on the football players, but on me because of my failure to inspire and maintain these qualities. The 1977 football season was filled with both exciting and cisappointing events. One of the goals of high school football is ®2 prepare the student-athlete for adult life where everything does not go his way, and | hope we have been successful in accomplishing this. The past two seasons have seen the Falcons with a 15-5 record which is one of the best two year records in the area. | feel the future Falcon teams can and will be just as successful with hard work on their part along with student body 2nd community support. But once we put our minds to work, we were able to learn the fundamentals. Then we were faced with fast approaching deadlines that required hours of diligent work. Being seniors, we found time to set aside the work and worry to enjoy our last year. Working together every day made us a family we call the TALON STAFF. 142 Girls’ Athletic Association Reet The Girls’ Athletic Association is made up of the female participants in the athletic programs at Frankfort. Each play had a separate cast which worked long and hard to prepare a program that everyone would enjoy. Although the primary purpose of the plays was to raise money for the junior class, they also provided various juniors with the opportunity to ‘ display their acting ability as well as to have fun. Jennifer Goller, Emcee : ———— omen “Comin Round the Mountain” eee ee ee ee 160 Underclassmen Theatrical Debut “A Mad Breakfast’ Broadway Comes To Mineral County! There have been a lot of ‘‘firsts’’ at Frankfort High but none quite as delightful as the first musical. With nothing but the script and music, Mr. Ott and Mr. Valentine began their search for an A-1 cast. They got it! The award winning performances by Charlie Brown (Chip Clites), Lucy (Ruth Coffman), Snoopy (Doug McKenzie), Patty (Lisa Robinson) and Linus (Phil Douthitt) could never be surpassed by another high school production. ‘‘You’re A Good Man, Charlie Brown’’ is a musical comedy hit that shows a day in the life of Charlie Brown. Our cast, however, put in a few different scenes than the original, like Snoopy splitting his pants during ‘Rabbit Chasing’’ — but we won't talk about that! Our young audiences loved the whole performance, but the favorite of all who watched was Snoopy’s ‘‘Suppertime’’. The cast was backed up by a chorus who helped out on numbers like: ’’ Baseball Game’’ — which Charlie Brown joses, of course; ‘‘Glee Club,’’ and the tear jerking ‘‘Happiness.’’ The talented combo can’t be forgotten because the members of the play would be nowhere without them. It was a joint effort on all sides, and when on the night of our last performance we got a standing ovation, we knew that it was all worth it!! | % “You're a Good Man, Charlie Brown” DeLIGHTful! To our dismay, we had to have our graduation exercises in the gymnasium rather than in the stadium because of a spring deluge. Even though it was quite warm, and the sound system wasn’t the best, it was still ‘Our Graduation,’’ and no one or no thing could take away the pride we felt for finally attaining that goal for which we had strived twelve long years. Many of us received awards of one kind and another which added to the feeling of achievement.
