In Memory of Mel Melanie Kay Detrick, a member of the Class of '77, has been greatly missed by her fel- low classmates and friends since her death in late Decem- ber. Melanie was a member of the National Honor Society and the girls’ basketball team. She served as business man- ager of the 1977 Talon staff, selling more boosters and ad- vertisements than any other staff member. Her physical beauty was not only matched but exceeded by the elegance she had in her heart when it came to compassion. Melanie made it known to her parents that she wanted her kidneys donated to someone who needed them. This wish was fulfilled upon her death. She is gone, but her unselfish love and deeds will live forever.

Frankfort High Dedication On August 26, 1976, a dream came true for those who had worked and given their time for Frankfort High School. Bernard Douthitt, member of the board of education, opened the dedica- tion ceremonies, followed by fellow board member Marion Phillips who presented the school key to Dr. Charles Coffman, principal. He stated that he hoped that the “spirit that helped build the stadium will project throughout our school pro- gram.” J. R. Haines, director of pupil serv- ices, Melvin M. Heiskell, and J. W. Mark- er, former principals, also spoke that night. The ceremony was followed by tours of the school and a Fun Fair sponsored by the Frankfort High School Booster Club.
