I'm Magda Van Der Heyden, I'm from Holland. I'm 17 years old, and I came here the 17th of August, 1976. I leave in July 1977 and in the meanwhile I go to an American highschool (FSHS), live with an American family and try to learn the American way of life. So far, I enjoyed it very much, have found most Americans very friendly and helpful. I've made a lot of friends, I will always remember and hope to correspond with when I return home Frankfort is like my hometown, small, close and nice. I like to live in it. I love my family, I love Frankfort and its people. I love it to be in America. I am Denise Azambuja, exchange student from Brazil. I attend Frankfort High School in my senior year. I come from small town in the southern part of Brazil call Estrela. In my town 1 attend a private Catholic School. I always though of visiting a foreign country and my first choice was the U. S. A. Really, it is wonderful being here. Everyday I learn and understand something more. I start to understand the people, what the people have for me and what I have for the people. Everything is important; family, friends, school, city. Frankfort is a very nice town, I like it very much. It's a clean city and I like to pay attention to the architecture styles of the houses and buildings, it is very different to what I am used to seeing in Brazil. Everything is very nice especially when you have good friends like I have here and I can feel that this is my home too. 6 I am an exchange student at Frankfort Senior High School this year. My whole name is Marko Seppo Miesmaa, but many of my friends call me only Marco or Mark. My hometown in Finland is Oulu. It's almost the same size as Lafayette is here in Indiana. Our weather is almost the same kind as it is here. In the middle of December the sun is up only 2 hours in Finland. But then middle of June the sun is down only 2 hours. In winter usually we get 6 feet of snow, but we sometimes have Christmas without snow. In Finland our school system is different than here. Our week schedule is the same, but each day is different. Our school days are of different lengths. Sometimes we go to school 8 hours in one day. So school begins and ends at different times. In schools we don't have different kinds of teams like in the U. S. We have clubs outside school (example YMCA). Those clubs play each other, like schools play here. Most of the students don't work after school. Usually we work in the summer. If you are a student than your salary is without tax and it’s almost as much as here. Now I have told a little about Finland and I say that everybody is welcome to Finland. My name is Anne-Mette Moe. I am 16 years old and from Norway. It is very interesting for me to learn how people live here and how your school is. It is a whole lot different from what I am used to, but I like it except for the long school day. In Norway we get out of school about 2 o'clock. In Norway I live about 15 miles from the capitol and I often go there shopping with my friends so it's pretty strange for me to have to stay here in town all the time but except for that Frankfort is pretty much like where I live.
