the weathervanes come to fshs Free speech for parents! came the cry from Walter Davis in this year's Senior Class Play, What Did we Do Wrong? As the audience wailed with laughter, Walter, a normal father turned hippie, appeared complete with dirty clothes, love beads, and protest signs such as: Back up your love with the back of vour hand, and Dr. Spock is a crock. The hippie father is proving a point to his long haired son Wally, who has just been expelled from college for insighting a riot. With the help of the group, Cindy, Woody and Scott, Wally tells his parents his story through song. Norma, Walter's wife, reacts panicky at first and then calms only to be attacked by her hippie husband. Until Walter blows his mind” and turns hippie, his company's 1 stockholder, Clarence Cahill, tries to oust him as President of the company and his wife, Charlotte suggests Norma's resignation as President of the city’s women's club. After the publicity Walter receives from his public protesting, both he and Norma are restored to their positions with more honor and dignity than before.
