The 1967 Cauldron Presents OUR CHANGING TIMES Frankfort Senior High School Frankfort, Indiana Our Changing Times at F. S. H. S. Change is a result of progress and permits society to advance. The ever-changing student body at F.S.H.S. has contributed to the past year’s events and received immeasurable benefits from them. The sophomore changes to a junior, the junior becomes a senior, and the senior faces the greatest change in his life. To Raymond “Buck” Rohrabaugh in appreciation of liis many years of service to the Frankfort School System and his endless hours of supervision and instruction in compiling and editing the past and present yearbooks. Counting time is not as important as making time count. Our Changing Times at F. S. H. S. —iiiiiF T i The newly organized pep club shows vitality and enthusiasm. Activity is the key to Frankfort school life. A trip to Ball State, the Christmas breakfast, the Pep Club, the Blue and White Band on parade, and of course the students engaged in these and other activities shaped the school year. 6 Gloria Buntin and Dennis Cleaver leave for Ball State. Student office help — Tim Thompson, Nancy Gill, Trudy McPhearson, and Martiee Bruce. Active Times Characterize F. S. H. S. The Christmas breakfast creates a joyous atmosphere. 7 Our Changing Times at F. S. H. S Homemaking The goal of all study is progress. Whether developing homemaking skills, exploring a living cell, or examining other’s ideas and philosophies the student is able to advance according to his abilities. Discussion proves to be the best means of settling disputes. 8 The Time Was Right For Progress Modem facilities and good instruction extend opportunities for prospective young scientists. 9 Reading provides exercise for the mind. Our Changing Times at F. S. H. S. New methods of teaching shorthand prove to he profitable and rewarding. Knowledge is one of the most desirable characteristics. Superior training and ample time for study enables students to develop this valuable asset and helps to form the well-rounded individual. 10 Our students are quite proud of Becky Carroll who was elected Junior Miss from Clinton County for 1966- 67. The versatility and ingenuity of the student body are also shown through the creative art classes. No matter what the talent or ability, there is always something for everyone. Junior Miss — Becky Carroll Personalities Developed In Every Respect Our Changing Times at F. S. H. S. Trampoline aids physical education. 12 All Phases of Education Were Explored The educational system at F.S.H.S. provides for training in all fields. Whether learning a foreign language, studying Geometry to develop reasoning ability, or participating in a program aimed at physical as well as mental education, the student constantly finds variety and challenge. Student learns foreign language in language lab. Here we study “Phillippean” Geometry. 13 Dennis Royalty prepares his NaCl sugar solution. From the days of the executing guillotines to the study of modern science, the students of F.S.II.S. study the past to prepare for the future. Through these various experiences and opportunities the students open the doors to tomorrow’s discoveries in the complex world which they are a part of. Changing Courses You’re next! ! 14 1 Mr. Harp’s Psychology classes present interesting experiments. Inspire Us Our Changing Times at F. S. H. S. The addition of Psychology class to the school curriculum was one of the notable changes at F.S.H.S. this year. This class enables students to obtain first-hand information from their own observations. In woodworking as in Psychology, experience proved to be the best teacher. Mr. Myers explains the use of the drill press to Joe barker and Jay McKinney. 15 Our Changing Times at F. S. H. S. Jean Terry casts her ballot. Voting in mock election . . . extending the warmth of Christmas to others . . . sharing our opinions on various matters. This is just a small representation of the activities that students engage in at F.S.H.S. The Frankfort school system builds students of character and individuality. We all know that a school is no better than its students and we feel that ours are the GREATEST. A cast of 125 students took part in the gay, colorful variety show whose theme and acts clearly indicated “It’s a Mod, Mod, Mod, Mod World”. M.C. Conrad Howe used wit and skill in announcing the acts and keeping the audience in laughter. The show got off to a lively start with twenty Madrigal Singers piling out of a Volkswagen inviting the audience to “Enjoy Yourself”. Following the Madrigal the show kept a livelv pace with highlights including a solo “Exactly Like You” by Jo Ellen Elliott; a baby elephant walk; “A Secretary is Not a Toy” by a group of lively Sophomores; and a Senior boys’ whistling act which kept the entire audience in stitches. After hearing the choir sing songs from “Tile Sound of Music” everyone agreed that the 1967 Big Broadcast was one of the best shows yet. It's A Mod, Mod, Mod, Mod World” Vicki DeRosa and Junior Girls. Sophomore Secretaries. 27 “Charge the Blockhouse!” Arsenic and Old Lace'' As the house lights dimmed for the opening performance of “Arsenic and Old Lace” the curtain rose and the hum of the audience subsided. All eyes then focused upon one of the most fantastic sets ever constructed on the Frankfort High stage. The set being the home of Martha and Abbv Brewster played by Cindy Duncan and Cheryl Bradley. The cast also consisted of Becky Carroll, John Doan, Steve Miner, Larry Lash-brook, Butch Roettger, Tom Reppert, Dennis Royalty, Andv Mitchell, Fred Bobbins, Mike McMurtrey, Bruce Pitman, and Denny Wainscott. “Oh No Not Another One!!” cried Mortimer Brewster as he learns of his sweet aunts’ morbid charities in “Arsenic and Old Lace”, this year’s hilarious Senior Class Play. The audience’s eyes were filled with tears of laughter as the cast of fourteen talented seniors excellently performed their parts. And certainly the splendid work and precision of the crews backstage aided immensely to the show. Martin Henderson with the assistance of Patty Work was largely responsible for the play’s success. Butch, Fred, Mike, Bruce, Larry, Dennis, Andy, John, Steve, Denny, Tom, George; seated, Cheryl, Cindy, Becky. 28 Becky Carroll gets to know the people of Siam. The King and I Anna, the English school teacher who has come to Siam to teach the King’s children, sings “Getting to Know You” to part of His Majesty’s seventy-six children and many wives in Roger’s and Hammerstein’s “The King and I”. Frankfort Senior High School presented its third musical in the form of this Broadway favorite with Larry Lashbrook splendidly portraying the strong wonderful King of Siam and Becky Carroll as the beautiful English School teacher. The company was one of the largest in the history of all Frankfort theatrical productions. Mr. Martin Henderson directed the actors and actresses while Miss Carol Ewart and Mr. Aden Long conducted the choir and orchestra, respectfully. Mr. Christopher Schwabe also assisted with the orchestra. This fantastic production will long remain in the hearts of all who participated. “Praise to Buddha.” 29 Three brave and consistant leaders w h o directed F.S.H.S. music students through many performances including; fall musical — Christmas convocations — district and state music contests. With the close of the sports year, Frankfort Senior High School broke its last link with the North Central Conference. This marks the end of an enriching association with that conference. The season also marked a new beginning for the Hot Dogs. Frankfort Senior High School takes membership in the Sagamore Conference along with Brownsburg, Carmel, Craw-fordsville, Lebanon and Noblesville. Upon the fields of friendly strife. Football Activities Highlight Year Frankfort’s football squad despite its 1-7-1 record enjoyed some success. Under new head Coach Reese Heninger, the Hot Dogs began the season ready for action, but as the season progressed the heavy schedule took its toll on the smaller Hot Dog squad. Soon they will be graduating and leaving the school for various jobs or colleges, but their last year at F.S.H.S. will not be forgotten. Their leadership and participation in sports, Big Broadcast, plays, clubs, and a multitude of other activities will remain in their memories throughout their lifetimes. The efforts of the Hot Dog football team against the New Castle Trojans, the basketball team’s victory over Clinton Prairie in the sectional, and the production of the Big Broadcast and the Senior Class Play were possible because of the outstanding leadership and efforts of the senior class. It has truly been a fine year for this class, and hopefully it has prepared them for the challenges of tomorrow. Juniors After a year of preparing for the prom; and after a year of supporting the seniors in all the activities of high school, the juniors prepare to move into the role of leaders. Soon they will he playing a major role in the guidance of clubs, sports, plays, and other school activities. It is a great privilege and responsibility. This class won the contest this year for decorating the halls for Blue and White Day. This ability to work together as a class will hopefully carry on to their senior year and make them capable of attacking all its challenges with the vigor shown by its predecessors. Mostly, however, it has been a year for becoming acquainted with the high school system. It has been a year for learning the many fascinating and intricate details of high school life. It has been a most enriching year for this class and has prepared them to meet the challenges of their future years in high school.
