Top, Carl Nordstrom instructs Kay Warnick on the piano. Explaining the technique of silk screening to Sharon Schwartzkopf is Mrs. Margret Willis, art instructor. Besides this technique the class also learned the art of water color, ceramics,chalk, and charcoal, 16 Fine A rts Another first inaugurated ut Frankenmuth High was the introduction of a fine arts class. The purpose of the class was to give students un insight as to the cultural aspects of education. On alternating dziys the cluss met with Carl Nordstrom, music teacher, and Mrs. Margret Willis, art instructor. Art Like the art section of the fine arts class, the art class also worked with water color, ceramics, chalk, charcoal, and silk screening. Exploring their book of water color techniques are Kay Brechtelsbauer, Elizabeth Brender, and Sharon Schwartzkopf.

Social tudies Standing Left to Right are the social studies teachers, Charles Bartel, Thomas Thompson, Carl Nordstrom. In the social studies field are included: world history, geography, American history, government, and economics. In its second year of operation, the television program has grown to include two classes, American History and Government-Economics . Alfred Zink, right, a 36 year veteran ofteach- ing is in charge of the telecasts. Melvin Riess and Jack Lindow listen intensively as Mr, Bartel lectures in world history, The globe is the center of at- traction as Richard Krueger, William Roedel, and Edwin Knoll explore the Country about which they are studying in their geog- raphy class.

Band is ii regular class in the day's schedule and is taught by Mr, Nordstrom, He also teaches several sections of elementary music and junior band. The band forms ai big D for Dad in honor of the fathers of the football players. 17
