This year was the first time that Bunnell High School has participated. Under the direction of Donald Ommen. with additional coaching from Jack Bottaro, Daniel Kennedy, Janice Lewis, Carole Mershella, Thomas Stan- ton, Carl Sword, and Herbert Wolfson, eight pre- liminary candidates were chosen for the event. Of these eight students, three finalists and two alternates were chosen. These students then went on to the television taping of the program, on January B, 1 982. and competed against Am- ity High School. The program aired on January 17, 1 9S2 on Channel S in New Haven. Though Bunnell was defeated, they did acquire the high- est final score in a losing effort, which was 1 95. versus Amity’s 455. This year’s team and the coaching staff enjoyed the experience, and Bunnell is looking forward to participating in this event again in the future. Preliminary Team Seated. However, nine players from the successful Bunnell football team were chosen as members of the All-MBIAC squad. First Team selections were Dave Car- bone, quarterback; Mike Chauvin, center; and Larry Casale. running back. Second Team members were Mike Magnano, linebacker; Paul Baker, defensive end; Eric Eckenrod. offensive tackle; and Jim Giammattei, running back. Led by Coach Carmen Pagiiarella end senior co-capteins Petti Doren and Wende Burton, the team struggled up and down through the season with close two and three point losses coming from the hands of Bassick, Leurelton Hall, and St. Joseph. Adding to Bunnell’s offense were seniors Diane Chagares and Jo-Ann Mazzadra. Under- classmen Donna Krusinski, Jeanne Schock.
