wfgrzf 21115 'gilt fell Bathed with beauty and a smile, lovely Janine Wilson, 20-year-old daughter of Mrs. Vernon L. Wilson and the late Mr. Wilson, walked away with top honors in the Miss Army Re- cruiter Contest held Tuesday during the Miss Flipper Pageant in Liberal, Kansas. The brown-haired, green-eyed beau- ty was bubbling with excitement Wed- nesday following her return trip from Liberal. Actually, Janine of 341 Golf, Huber Camp, didn't even know she was en- tered in the competition until she ar- rived in Liberal. She had entered the Miss Flipper Pageant as one of 25 candidates from Texas, Oklahoma and Kansas. However, it was announced that two panels of judges would at- tend the contest-one panel for the actual Miss Flipper Contest and anoth- er panel of Army recruiters represent- ing a six-state area. All 25 candidates entered in the Miss Flipper competition were judged only according to beauty by the Army recruiters. Sponsored by Dean's of Borger, Miss Wilson was an easy win- ner in the evening gown and bathing suit competition. Janine exclaimed, HI consider this a 148 4- Qbif' ' '--.-.,.,,,...Jl 4 Q . ,, MISS ARMY RECRUITER Lovely Janine Wilson, daughter of Mrs. Vernon L. Wilson and the late Mr. Wilson, proudly displays the giant trophy she received after winning the Miss Army Recruiter competi- tion in Liberal, Kansas, Tuesday. Janine, a sophomore at Frank Phillips College, lives at 34 Golf, Huber Camp. great honor, especially when I did even know I was entered until right fore the contest. The five-foot, three inch lovely c rently represents Army functions, a will later become the official represer ative of recruiting stations in 13 oth states. Janine was awarded a giant troph a crown and a dozen long-stern ros during the pageant. Miss Wilson is the first Texan win the Miss Army Recruiter awa because in the past the contest h been open only to Kansas girls. The Army award is just another a long list of honors the Borger co genial miss has received recently. Miss Wilson was runner-up in t Miss Lake Meredith Pageant in 19 and has served as the Borger No Lions Club Queen. In addition, J nine was named Most Beautiful Frank Phillips College in 1967. S is currently a sophomore at FP where she serves as secretary-treasu er for Phi Theta Kappa national hon fraternity and the Student Governi Association. The beautiful coed is a member the Plainsman Choir. She was name outstanding Spanish student at FP in 1967.
