X SAYON ARA As our Sayonara night began, many of us joined I. Seidl and B. Gallant in Tokyo Bay, while others took part in a Rice Bowl. After we had completed our bay or bowl fun, the Rickisha Express was on hand to transport us to the Yokihama Teahouse. Here we took off our shoes and enjoyed a slippered snack, complete with floor show. Then some of our japanese guides led us to the Pagoda Playhouse, Where a certain Kwai guy turned his bridge in on a balcony. After seeing Marjorie Morningstarf' we were taken to Holiday Hill for a Wonderful breakfast in true Japanese style. It certainly was hard to say Sayonara', to such a grand night. Thank you, senior parents, for a perfect evening!

SENIOR HISTORY Panther pathways have come to mean a lot to our class of 1958 on our journey from seventh grade to graduation. Now that it is time to leave this well-trodden road, let us mark some memory milestones of our trip through Willis High School. ' Seventh Grade-it seems like just yesterday that we were being shown around a gigantic building called VVillis High. It took sometime for all one hundred fifty-three of us to get settled, but gradually we found our place and began the six-year' journey. Remember how excited we were when a man named Dwight D. Eisenhower came through Delaware and spoke to us from the platform of the train? After that, it was hard to get back to studying-especially with no recess! However, the many clubs we joined kept us too busy to miss it. Everyone found some activity to enjoy-band, choir, intramurals Qremembers the Galle-hes and Galle-hers, the Hot Shots, the Sharp Shootersflj, dramatics, or the Live Wire newspaper. We began to feel part of the school now, and we felt especially grown up at the Mistletoe Mix with the senior high. The dances were forgotten while many of us started working on the operetta johnny Appleseed. The stage looked so big and we felt so small! We were glad when the curtain closed, but we learned the meaning of stage struck as well as stage fright. Everyone was proud and happy that part of our operetta was included in Mrs. Hearn and Miss Plum's production, Delaware Diaryf' honoring Ohiois sesquicentennial. After this show closed, we had to get back to work, and we did- with Every Pupil and Iowa State tests. All of our work wasnjt on paper, though, the trip to the State Capitol and Legislature was fun as well as study. At the end of the year, we got another opportunity to combine work and play when we went to the Westerville Park and Colum- bus Zoo. This was our final outing in seventh grade, after a short summer, we returned to the Panther Path as seniors of the junior high- eighth graders. We felt so grown up by now, and the new seventh grade was so young! The school didn't seem quite so big anymore, either. The continued participation in all the clubs, some of us were accepted into senior high band. The choir sang with senior high groups at the annual Christmas Concert, a big event for all of us. For those who liked sports, the intramural competition was fierce, especially between rivals 201 and 208. However, everyone worked on our second junior High Open House to present a talent show, kickball game, and social hour. Some of us com- peted in the junior Payoff and proved that we could stand side by side with the senior high. Our last big eighth grade fling was the Field Day, where two representatives from each room reigned. The torch of freedom was brought in by runners, track and field competition took place, and some of us even circled around the old brass wagon! Our little circle in junior high came to an end at the last awards assembly, and we returned in the fall of 1954 as freshmen in senior high. Once again everything seemed new and strange to us. New teachers, new subjects, new clubs -it was all a little frightening. However, we got in the swing of things in a short time. The boys joined the Hi-Y and Key Club and became members of the sports teams and musical organizations, the girls were taken into W-Teens and started to develop their interests in various fields. VVe went to the football and basketball games in larger numbers, some to Watch, others to play. Many of us returned to the stage in the operetta The Mikadof' We organized our class and began working as a unit under the leadership of president Alan Hackel. Some of us joined the junior Classical League and attended the convention in Columbus. We became members of the various language clubs, and between the Latin banquet Cwhere we were sold as slavesj and the F rench-Spanish Mardi Gras, we had a gay time. The dances were one of the most enjoyable new things we discovered. The W-Teens' Plan- tation Promv and April in Parisi' Ccomplete with waitressesj, combined with the Hi-Y and Key Clubs Blue Heaven kept us on our toes Cand our dates' toes as welll? However, we freshmen soon discovered that we had clean-up detail after each big event, so we exchanged formals and suits for blue jeans and brooms and went to work. It was a year of discovery for our class, and marked an important milestone for our pathway. 107
