WILLY'S DIARY FEBRUARY D , 1 The debate team traveled to the Heidleburg Invitational Debate Tournament and won third place. 5 Some more student council members visited Urbana. 6 The Senior High Band, assisted by the Junior High Band and Cadet Band, presented its annual winter concert. 7 The basketball team traveled to Bexley for a game. 8 The Willis N. F. L. chapter held its annual debate tournament- anybody see an extra timekeeper? 11 The O. W. U. Men's Glee Club presented a thrilling concert at the assembly. 13 The Choral Ensemble entertained at the P. T. A. F ounder's Day meeting. 14 The Senior High had dress-up-day, anybody else going to change their shoes? Moms of the players and cheerleaders were honored at the last home C.B.L. game of the season. 15 The F. H. A. held their Queen of Heartsv dance in the gym- Whose my valentine?', 20 The movie The Harder They Fall was seen by all. 21 Tlqe vacation for Washingtonis Birthday gave studying a good chance to see the last C.B.L. game at Ar ington. ' 22 Ohiol High School Speech League finals were held' in Columbus. Five people qualified for State F ina s. , 28-March 1 N. F. L. District Finals were held at Ohio University. Sandra Bayliff qualified for Nationals and the debate qualified for State Finals. MARCH 4 The Senior High band played for assembly-hope none heard that wrong note! 10 Many music students heard the famed Minneapolis Symphony at the Youth Concert at Gray Chapel. 11-13 Junior High students took achievement tests -anybody ready for a rest? 13 F. F. A. held their annual banquet at Bunis. 15 The local Science Fair was held in the morning, the district band contest took place during the after- noon at Newark, and the Hi-Y Key Club held the annual Spring Formal, My Fair Lady. 21 Ohio High School Speech League Finals were held at Ohio State all day. 22 Many students participated in the District Science Fair. Eighteen students received Superior ratings. 29 The Seniors bid farewell and headed for a fabulous trip While the others relaxed during Spring Vacation. - APRIL 9 The H. M. S. Pinafore was given to the junior high. 10 The H. M. S. Pinafore was presented by the Choirs. Has anybody seen my costume? 11 Science students traveled to the State Science Fair in Akron where six Won superior awards. 12 The Key Club of Ohio met in Cleveland for the State convention. 16 Sixteen students were initiated into National Honor Society. ' 18 The language clubs held the Mardis Gras in the gaily decorated gym. 25 End of the fifth estimate. 26 State Band Contestwas held in Canton Where the band won a superior rating. 29 The band members were honored by the Band Parents at the annual Band Banquet. MAY ' 3 Students went SWingin' into Spring at the W-Teens Semi-Formal. 7 The track team participated in the C.B.L. track meet which was held at Grandview. 16 The Juniors honored the Seniors at the Iunior-Senior with a true Shangri-La. 17 Willis trackmen did well in the District Track Meet. JUNE ' ' 1 Baccalaureate was held in Gray Chapel. ' 5 The Seniors began the Big Day at the breakfast in Bun's Colonial Room. Commencement exercises were held at 8:00 in Gray Chapel. 6 ?ll students returned for their grade cards and the end of a wonderful school year, never to be orgotten. g 98
