The Core is made up of several subjects all taught by the same teacher. The subjects are science, geography, and current events. Mathematics and English are taught separately. In the seventh grade this year there were seven cores. An interesting trip was taken by all seventh grade cores to the Columbus Plant of Current Events. They learned the various steps taken in the manufacturing of a Current Events paper. One core spent some time creating a science workbook. During Christmas va- cation the pupils of another core collected data on the most import- ant people and events of 1955. ln the fall, pupils of the eighth grade spent a day at the WRFD playground. Nature hikes, story telling, athletics, and crafts were supervised by upper classmen and faculty members. A sack lunch was taken by everyone. Pupils of both the seventh and eighth grade scored high in the state tests.
