HJISTURY OF THE SCHOULYIEAR SEPTEMBER School started. Back to the old grind First pep assembly. Preview game a o Dress-up day for Senior High. First assembly of the year. Assembly for seventh grade sponsored by W-Teens and Hi-Y Key Club. Second football ga.me - Marysville there. Willis won, lZ-7. Powder Puff football game. This girls' football game was sponsored by the Junior t C lumbus Central. Willis lost their quarters. Class. The Juniors won. Four girls from Willis reigned as queens at the Delaware County Fair. No school. Brown Jug Day. The Willis Band played at the races at fair. No school. Willis played Worthington at home. Score tied 6-6. Dance sponsored by cheerleaders. Student Chest Drive started. All school dress-up day. Individual pictures taken to be used for the Delhi. Pupils attended school until 11:30 a. m. They came back at 7:00 p. m. so the parents could observe the classes. First C. B. L. football game at Grandview. We lost Z0-0. Student Chest Campaign ended. Delhi subscription campaign started. Assembly. Mr. McCloughan gave a lecture and showed pictures of Australia. First morning worship service. Cast announced for Time Out For Ginger. 2-7. Second C. B. L. game - Willis vs. Bexley at home. Dad's night. Willis won 1 Hi-Y sponsored dance after the game. Football team and Student Council nominate gir s o End of first six weeks. First movie of the year, David and Bathsheba. No regular classes. Grades 10-12 had group counseling with representatives of dif- ferent colleges. This took place of our annual career day. Football game at Urbana. d ' l f r homecoming queen and court. Urbana won 44-0. Junior Classical League meeting. Pep Rally at Community Field - Arlington dummy was burnedg the coaches gave shor talks. Homecoming assembly in auditorium. Homecoming game - Willis vs. Arlington. Arlington won Z7-12. Big homecoming dance held in the gym after the game. During t d 'th a the intermission the queen was crowned and the queen and her court presen e wi minature football. Dance sponsored by W-Teens. United Nations Day - Our band marched in the para e orium assembly. Our Choral Ensemble sang Getting to Know You. Magazine campaign started. Delhi group pictures taken for clubs and classroom shots. No school - teachers' convention in Columbus. Football game at Mr. Vernon. Mt. Vernon won 14-0. Seventh grade party in the gym. d . Panel discussion in the audit- NOVEMBER Carnival. PTA sponsored the dinner. Last home football game with Circleville. We won 35-29. Dance after game sponsored by the Majorettes. Senior high assembly. Our special guest gave a piano concert. Special senior high Veterans' Day assembly. Music furnished by a group of World War I and Il Veterans. Basketball practice began today. Opening day of hunting season. Time Out For Ginger given to junior high students. Time Out For Ginger gi ven to the public. Dance sponsored by the Sophomore Class.

ZZ Senior High Thanksgiving assembly. Z3 All school movie, Ivanhoe. Last day of school before Thanksgiving vacation. 28 End of the second six weeks. Z9 Basketball game at Aquinas. 30 Report cards handed out. DECEMBER 1 W-Teen play night and potluck supper in the gym. 2 Basketball game - Willis vs. Worthington there. 3 W-Teen formal at Willis. The theme, Santa's Workshop, was cleverly carried out. 6 Basketball game. Willis vs. Marysville in our gym. 7 Morning Worship Service in auditorium sponsored by Hi-Y Key Club. This fifteen minute service is held the first Wednesday in each month. 9 First C.B.L. basketball ga.rne postponed due to heavy snows and bad roads. 10 The 1955 Delhi Autograph Ball held in the gym. 13 High school assemblyg special basketball movie shown. 14 Christmas Concert by the choral music departmentg program in Willis auditorium. 16' Last day of school. Pre-vacation movie, Magnificent Obsession. Game with Upper Arlington - hereg the first C.B.L. game. Dance after game sponsored by Hi-Y. Christmas vacation starts today. 20 Columbus West Basketball game here. Z7 Basketball game with Big Walnut high school. We won. 30 Holiday Hop for the junior high. 31 Mistletoe Mix for the senior high. JANUARY 3 First day of school after vacation. Basketball game, Willis vs. Linden McKinley here. 4 Morning Worship Service in charge of Hi-Y Key Club. 5 Game with Mt. Vernon 6 French and Spanish classes celebrated Kings' Day. 9 Try-outs for talent show. 10 Senior high United Nations assembly program held in auditorium. The prograrn in charge of Hi-Y Key Club. 13 Unlucky day - Willis lost to Grandview 53-62 in Grandview gymnasium. Z0 Senior Scholarship Tests. Movie Battleground. Bexley vs. Willis here. Dance sponsored by Hi-Y. Z1 Academy vs. Willis here. ZZ Pupils from Willis appeared on television. A good job. Z3 No school - grading day for teachers. We had a breathing spell. Z4 End of semester. Z5 Delhi pictures - a new semester started - lots of resolutions. ze Grade cards out. 27 Urbana here. Sophomore class sponsored the dance. 31 Band concert - lots of hard work and a good performance. FEBRUARY Z Ground Hog Day - What, no shadow? Los Oradoes Espanoles prepared and ate Mexican food. 3 Arlington there. 7 Columbus there. 9 Junior High Workshopg F.T.A. members taught junior high classes today. Casts were picked for The Fortune Teller and the play which is to be given at the National Thespian Convention in June. 10 Mt. Vernon - here. Dance after game sponsored by the Hi-Y and Key Club and featured the newly organized Willis High dance band in their first appearance. What a joyous occasion. The music was fine. 11 National Forensics League Debate tournament held at our school. Columbus North won the trophies, but Willis debaters turned in a good record. 14 Plenty of celebrating on Valentines' Dayg Cupid was King. F.H.A. Mother-Daughter Banquet. 17 Grandview here. W-Teens had dance after the game. Those Sultans of Swing sure top those records! ZZ. No school. George Washington's birthday.
