Lloyd Gardner, The name of this cluh was Les Veilleurs which means the Hclockwatcli' ers, and their motto was N'essaye: pas de mollf rir- mais moure: en essayantu which means Don't try dying hut die trying, The program of the year consisted of a Christmas Party in Decemf her: A Kings Day Banquet in -Ianuaryg a Valenf tine's party. each memher making a Valentine written in French. in Fehruary: a program ahout the Mardi Gras in March: games in April: and skits in May. The period seven class which was called L'elite. The Choice, had as its motto Nous vivous pour notre nom, meaning We live for our name. The officers were president. Allan Johnson1 vice president. John Melvin: secretary' treasurer. Barhara Thatcher: and social chairman. Bill Poling. They had the same program for the year as period two. except that in Novemher. 0lYl11Dii1dBS The second year Latin Cluh. which is other' wise known as the Clympiaclas, meets twice a month during class periods. Memhers usually have planned programs consisting of Latin games. Latin stories. and Mythology. Quite a hit of time at the first of the year was put in on planf ning the Latin Banquet, which was held April 29, The girls in the cluh planned a hake sale to help out with the expenses of the hanquet. The Freshman class, which formed a new Laf tin Cluh of their own this year. planned the prof gram for the banquet Everyone who attended the banquet had as wonderful a time as usuil According to the custom the pupils voted for a certain percentage of teachers to he invited The teichers entered right into the fun hy donning Romin tovas too The meal consisted of 1 four course dinner minus the use of eating utensils The program consisted of singing and dancing girls. wrestling and hoxing. a fight hetween a gladiator and a netman, Instead of a play, scenes from mythology were acted out. and wild anim' als were turned loose in the arena, Several of the hoys translated The Thingi' and The Tenf nessee Wlllfl,-H and ukes were used to represent Neros fiddles. The dancing girls again had their perfume hottles out at the end of their dance and gave everyone a whiff of some real expen' sive perfume.
