Twelve years ago, director Dale Ca- meron provided a new experience for Frank B. Kellogg drama students. They were giv- en the opportunity in selecting, casting, and directing one act plays. In that first year only two plays were directed by students and included less than ten students. Today all three one act plays were directed by students and had over for- ty students participating. There were three series of one acts, 'STouch the Bluebirds Song with Cather- ine Apman and Brian Alstrom, directed by Treasure at Bently Inn One Acts Tammy DeRider. This play is about a young man who has been in the Navy sever- al years and is visiting his girl friend at her college campus. Their love is tested by the change in how they've become different people and must face the question of wheth- er the people they are now can recapture the love that exsisted between them before. The second play, f'Treasure at Bently Inn , was directed by Mike Jordan. The cast members were James Johnson, Lisa Busek, Kelly Kalb, Jeff Hartmann, Matt Lillemoen, Andy Piontek, Marnee DeR- ider, Jamie Marentic, Dave Wiedl, Scot Kalb, and Renea Flemmings. This is a play ful story of a mystery and treasure hunt. The final play was 'fThe Psychiatrist ii Spite of Himself . Cast members were Do reen Ariola, Ryan Lynch, Don Addington Ann Simondson, Julie Liston and Stevi Hauble. The play is about a practical joki played on a husband by his wife. She trie4 to get him to admit that he was a psychia trist to a couple looking for help. This cre ates a chaotic comedy. The play was direct ed by Dan Addington. 30

6'The Romancersv Frank B. Kellogg,s entry The Romancersu, by Edmond Rostand, won the second place trophy at the Region 3AA One-Act Contest held February 2, 1984 at St. Paul Harding and was the designated alternate to the State Festival. The play, directed by Joyce Hebert, featured Chris Code, Lisa Flaherty, Todd Hartman, Brad Holmes, Kathy Lee, Matt Noesen, Rhonda Rei- chow, Dave Rue, and Rich Thorson. The set design was by Glen Bjornsong Sue Carlson was Production Assistant, and Kirsten Kenfield was the Assistant Director. The Romancersw set in the l8th Century France is the script on which the musical g'The Fantasticksn is based. 32
