Fourth and Fulth Grade Actuvutues Some of the actuvutues that you may have seen un our room at dufferent tumes ofthe year are as follows A record of the weather each day was kept on a weather calendar A food chart wuth puctures correctly classufued helped us to learn the Basuc Seven A pet rabbut brought and cared for by Earlene and Earl Delo was an unterestung vusutor for several weeks We also watched two tadpoles brought by Sharon Hunsberger develop egs Pucture study was enjoyed by the pupuls A munuature pucture the artust and the story ofthe pucture were kept un unduvudual notebooks Makung a scrapbook brungung gufts and vusrtung and sungung for Muruam Halteman who was absent the last few months because of suckness were happy experuences for the chuldren who took part These and other actuvutues have helped make the school year enjoyable and worthwhule Fulth and Suxth Grade Actuvutues Chuldren must have actuvuty and plenty of ut Just as actuvutues of a physucal nature are necessary to develop theur bodues properly so they also need actuvutues un many other lunes ln our club meetungs The Buds of Pramuse have guven some very un terestung programs Sungung songs of Chrust s burth at Chrustmas and of Hus resurrectuon at Easter tume have unspured the chuldren as well as those to whom they sang at old peoples homes Our bug chart Sugns of Sprung was fulled wuth puctures of sprung burds and flowers Under ut was wrutten the name of each chuld who had seen that partucular sprung burd or flower thus season Our scuence hukes were great tumes of exploratuon sunce there were many thungs found that we had not notuced before One autumn day the gurls brought theur dolls baby luke old fashuoned new tuny lufe suze yes dolls of all shapes and suzes came to school that day Some behaved very well whule a few accudentally crued The boys had Pet Day on the same day as the gurls had theur Doll Contest The dog and cat knew school rules pretty well but the bantam rooster and the bug brahma had a crowung contest Of course all pets were outsude the schaolroom Every Tuesday and Thursday the chuldren took charge of the devotuonal peruod Sometumes we had quartet sungung but usually we all partucupated On Wednesday mornung the day began wuth a mussuonary story Each mornung we began the day un fellowshup wuth God Instead of buyung valentunes the chuldren took votes as to whom they wanted to send money whuch was col lected We sent an offerung of love to Blanche Sell Marue Moyer and Esther Freed -1 1 1 ' 1 1 1 1 1 1 1 - 11 - 11 - - I . ,, . . ,, . . . . . 1 1 1 ' 1 ' 1 1 1 ' 1 1 - 11 11 - 1 11 11 ' 1 . , . - 1 1 -7 -1

Calendar VOLLEYBALL Tex-wus ln October of I949 the gurls of grades seven to ten formed volleyball teams Mrs Horst chose four gurls as captauns who met and composed the teams These teams met un physucal educatuon peruods and played each other un round robun fashuon The captauns of the teams were Mary Lapp Joan Emmeruck Esther Mack and Beatruce Landes HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES MEETS The Hous of Representatives met un November Bro Detweuler duvuded the nunth and tenth grades unto eught states Bulls were drawn up by the varuous states and then referred to a com muttee The commuttee chose the best bulls whuch were duscussed and voted upon One bull whuch mught be of unterest was entutled The Declaratuon of lndugestuon It read as follows Resolved that we have one hour for lunch to prevent undugestuon BIRTHDAY CELEBRATIONS On September 29 we celebrated Bro Detweuler s burthday even though ut was a few days late Later un the year on November 9 Bro Hertzlers burthday was also celebrated Through one omnuscuent person we duscovered Suster Horsts burthday was Aprul I Happuly plans were made for the celebratuon of thus date These burthdays were celebrated by the consumptuon of cake candy uce cream and pretzels CHRISTIAN LIFE CONFERENCE Many ruch blessungs were deruved from the Chrustuan Lufe Conference conducted by Bro Elmer Kolb from Pottstown Mussuon durung the furst week of November Each mornung of that week Bro Kolb brought to us a message askung us to examune ourselves The furst mornung he challenged us wuth a questuon from the Buble What us thy name? A few other of hus searchung questuons How old are you? Is your conscuence rught toward God? and Are you honest?
