THE PARENTS ASSOCIATION The Parents Assoention of Pirker has hid 1 wery successful year It has even been sud that this has been one of the best vears the Association had had since its inception One of the principal relsons therefor is thc innovation of monthly meetings of the grade chairman, which hue resulted in more interesting and beneficial grade meetings The meetings of the mothers of each grade have been held regularly, with remarkably good attendance They hate brought the mothers into close contact with thc teachers and have produced real cooperation in studying problems of the children On October 31 the parents heard a discussion led by Dr Oselr Robert Pfister, of Zurich, Switzerland, entitled The Collaboration of Parents and Teachers in the light of Phychoanllysis The December meeting was the usual Toy Shop night with 1 record attendance of ox cr 400 carpenters, painters, seamstresses, etc The results were 1 splendid object lesson of what cooperation can accomplish On March 2 the Executne Secretary of the Progressive Education Association, Mr J Milnor Dorey, outlined to the mothers the principles of that organization interest by many of the parents The series was called Understanding the Parker School and was given in order that the paients vtould haxe a clearer picture of the underlying principles of Progressive Education hovt it opeiates, vihat it accomplishes, vthir ire the most recent dexelopments in this field Six meetings vsere held, with different members of the faculty discussing various phases of the subject Those parents who attended have 1 better understanding of the ideals and aim of the school, and therefore 1 greater appreciation of it Other mnow ations this year were the establishment of the nucleus of 1 library and a Pirents Association Bulletin Board in the fiont hall ln conclusion, let me repeat from my ieport of a year IQO thit this Association exists for all of the plrents, and it is felt that pirtleipatlon in its ietixities xxill react benehciilly on the school teachers, the children and the puents EDC AR 'N C Rl I NI BALX1 lug: 7 P , ' 'if I v 1 ' 1 , v ' 11 K L V 1 , . .
