Gift Q masons X V.. l T FUTURE TEACHERS OF AMERICA The Future Teachers of America Club offers students an opportunity to learn about the teaching profession, its opportunities, responsibilities, and its important role in our community. The Club also endeavors to culti- vate in its members the qualities of personality, character, and leadership which are essential 'in good teachers. Membership is open to any students in grade 9 through 12 who are interested in exploring teaching as a career. The program, which is planned by a special committee consisting of volun- teers from the club, usually entails a business meeting, a speaker, and re- freshments. OFFICERS President ..,.....,. FUTURE NURSES OF AMERICA The Future Nurses of America provides its members with the chance to explore the opportunities in the nursing Held. Members also learn the value of medical education in service to the school, hospital, and community. Speeches by members of the medical professions, movies, and field trips help the members to gain further information. Members of the Club offer their services as volunteers at the Meriden and Memorial Hospitals. After completing fifty hours of service, the girls receive their caps at an impressive capping ceremony. After one hundred hours of service, the girls receive stripes. To retain membership in the club, freshmen must render five hours of service in the school infirmary, heart fund, or in other such agencies.
