NATIONAL HONOR SOCIETY ,. Vs L'-7 NATIONAL HONOR SOCIETY The National Honor Society was formed to encourage and to acknowl- edge students who have shown themselves noble in character, superior in scholarship, effective in leadership, and outstanding in service to the school and to the community. Students nominate classmates whom they recognize as leadersg faculty members nominate students for serviceg and the administration determines those whose scholarship is a B average or better. Those who qualify in these three areas are then voted upon by the entire faculty for character qualifications. There are two elections each year. In February, only seniors are eligible, but in May both juniors and seniors are voted upon. Scholarship requirement for juniors is a B+ average. New members are announced and inducted at a school assembly dur- ing which they take the oath of the society, and receive a membership card and a yellow rose. At the same time, they receive the keystone pin to wear proudly or to keep as a memento. Their parents and friends are invited to this induction service and to the reception which follows in the Homemaking Department. OFFICERS President . . . ..... ,.,...
