With many of the lettermen returning this season, Maloney's highly re- spected Spartans will begin what, they hope, will be a successful campaign. That saying seems to voice the opinion of at least 120 boys who will be battling for a coveted berth on the track team this March. Strong in almost every one of the track and field's sixteen events, aided by the talents of Co-Captain Henry Toman in the shot and discus, and Gus DeMauro in the jumps, the Beall-coached team will be out to duplicate the feat of their tall cohorts, the cross country squad, by also compiling a string of victories. With return of eighteen lettermen, the 1962 track season promises to improve on last year's winning record of 8-5-1, which included state championships in the 100-yd. dash and 880-yd. relay.
