Led by Co-Captains Bob Chester and Dick Cumicowski, the Spartans' outstanding 11-3 record not only enabled them to capture the CCIL crown but also win a berth in the state tournament in 1961. With many of the lettermen returning this season, Maloney's highly re- spected Spartans will begin what, they hope, will be a successful campaign. SWIMMING The swimming team ended a highly successful season with a record of 6 wins and 3 losses, and a 54-33 victory over Platt. Although losing a number of senior standouts, the team, with Coach Roger T. Chaffee at the helm, is optimistically looking for another successful season next year. High point honors go to Bruce Valentine with 73 points. School records were broken this year by Denny Lutz in the 100-yd. backstroke, Bob Critz in the individual medley, and Pete O'Loughlin in the 100-yd. butterfly.
