Kemp Layden serves up another point. Bright Spots Two bright spots made this season more enjoyable for the boy's tennis team. It was, however, a season without many bright spots. They finished with a 1-9 record. One of the bright spots was Matt Volkman, the number one singles play- er. He was a candidate for AlleSIAC hon- or. In coach Schmidt's eyes, the other bright spot was the big improvement in the play of the team. Although only 1-9, the squad became competitive during the season. That cul- minated in a first round win in the sec- tional. They defeated North Posey High School, but they were stopped by North in the second round. The doubles team showed vast im- provement over those of the past sea- sons. Leaders were Joel Hunter, Rob Hochstetler, Mark Busby, and Tom Bar- ron. Varsity. Front row: Rob Hochstetler, M2 Volkman, Jeff Flener, Kemp Layden; Back r0' Steve Werner, Shane McFadden, Kevin She lock, Joe Hunter, Scott Bennett, Tom Barro Mark Busby, Coach Schmitt. 27

26 Golf Was A Season Of Close A heartbreaking loss to Castle was characteristic of the whole season for the girls golf team. They lost by only five strokes. During this season, the team was lead by Senior Alizabeth Aramowicz and also by Senior Andrea Moore. We had a mediocre season. We came within one team of being in the sectionals, and Alizabeth came within two strokes of be- ing in the sectional, says Coach John Aramowicz about the teams close, but disappointing season. ?shigc Tour: e Sectional t SIAC Front Row: Alizabeth Aramowicz, Andrea Moore; Row Two: Audrey Elfrich, Greta Hardin, Heather Wade.
