Sectional Champs The season got off to a slow start, but the team came on strong at the end of the regular season. After losing five straight the turn around finally came against North with a crushing 38-2 victory. The team ended regular play at 3 and 5. A new football playoff setup gave every team a sectional berth. Reitz' first game was against hard-hitting Boonville, at Boonville, but they came away a 2-9 winner. The next rival was Harrison, confi- dent because they defeated the Pan- thers earlier. This was a changed Kevin Schaper and the defense await New Alba- ny. team, however, and Harrison fell, and the Panthers advanced to the sectional championship. It was Jasper coming to the Bowl. The defense limited them to two points and the offense picked up 2.1. Reitz became one of the final eight, three games away from the Hoosier Dome and a championship. After tak- ing an early lead, Reitz led most of the way against East Central. In the final moments it was a field goal by them that ended the dream. Score, 18-17. Our defense is used to being on the field, said Coach Hape. Here they break for play. Early play left doubtful minds. Doug Waterman launches a hanging punt against Harrison.
