TO THE CLASS OF 1951 Your pathway of preparation for life is still long. It matters little whether you proceed to some institution of higher learning, whether you find your place in honorable and gainful employment, or whether you answer the call to your country’s colors—there’s still more to be learned than you already know. Whatever your task, apply yourself. Your performance will never exceed your interest. There must be on your part a will to attain, whether you have much or little ambition. Your happiness in life with others and with yourself will depend to no little extent on your attitudes and your sense of values. This has been true during your school days; it will be true as long as you live. For what life can be happy to gain through greed and fraud . . . . without regard for the right of others, without regard for the feeling of your neighbor, without regard for the effect on our fellow men and on society? Tua vita loquitur ipsa!
