Banjuage eparimeni Mr. Leveille Department Head The ideal place to learn a language is in the land speaking it. How- ever, because such an arrangement is impossible, the language depart- ment must be a workable substitute, even with a disadvantage of three thousand years or four thousand miles. Instruction of Latin, French, German, and Spanish is under the general direction of Mr. Leveille. Teachers conduct classes in the language being studied as much as possible. Classics, including Le Cid, Les Miserables, the Aeneid, and Le Tour de Monde exercise comprehension skill; and the language lab furthered conversational ability. After school four clubs operating under the department enriched verbs and nouns with cultural insight. The language corridor was never an Appian Way, or a Champs-Elysees, but it was the Latin Quarter for South.
