As tradition has it, new Sophomores, the underdogs of F.H.S., were treated in the customary fashion, like morons from another world. But they were finally initiated by attending a very successful Senior-Soph dance given by the seniors for the sole purpose of welcoming the Sophs. By the time spring had arrived, with overflowing self-confidence the Sophs were engaged in a lively political campaign in order to elect class officers for the coming year. Burton Marmer emerged as President; Vincent Trincia became his veep ; Joanne Montal took over all paper work and Phyllis Fazzari held onto the moneybags. With almost ten months of hard (?) work behind them, the Sophs decided that it was time for a rest and left F.H.S. for summer vacation. Three months later, as September rolled around, the Juniors, too, practically rolled back to school. After Thanksgiving they were greeted by Mr. Ralph Martin, the new Assistant Principal. But now the Juniors, with a feeling of indifference, wondered about those un- dignified things that called themselves Sophomores. As the days flew by, the time came for the presenta- tion of the Music Festival, which was, as always, a huge success. Soon thoughts turned toward the Junior Prom that was to be given for the beloved Seniors. Under the capable guidance of their class advisor, Miss Ducas, a most successful Junior Prom was presented with the very appropriate theme Coronation. Political fever ran high as the campaign for Senior Class Officers began once again. Neil McLellan be- came President, while Vincent Trincia remained as Vice President. Again Joanne Montal emerged as Sec- retary, and Eileen Tosti was elected as Treasurer for the Senior year. Burton Marmer was elected to lead the class on to fame as President of the Student Coun- cil. Mary Ryan and Bob Bugley took over the controls of the Philomath, and Judy Connors and Craig Marten- son were elected to edit the Student Crier. Albert Guerra became Captain of the Marshals, while Judy Connors was chosen to lead the Cheerleaders, and the Drum Majorettes followed Mary Jo Martin as Head Majorette. Again in June, when that restless feeling becomes evi- dent, a ten-week vacation began, which breezed by, but everyone was only too glad to return to his alma mother . Since they were now Seniors, they greeted the Sophomores with the same sneers which they them- selves had encountered only two years before. But were the Seniors taken by surprise! Since a new system of rotating periods had been installed, more of the puzzled Seniors got lost than Sophs! The Cheerleaders this year have brought fame to the school, entering and winning three competitions; and the drum majorettes also gained a trophy for F.H.S. During Christmas vacation, a record hop was given by the Vocational School; this dance was well attended and enjoyed by all. For the terrific work done on Christmas Projects, Radio Station WBZ awarded a citation to all the pupils of F.H.S. The Seniors really displayed their ability to act when they produced the humorous senior play Ever Since Eve. To Miss Alta Estabrook went much credit and appreciation for doing such a fine job in directing this play. The Seniors then looked forward to the Music Festival, the Prom given in their honor, and Class Night. We, the Class of 1951, are now waiting for that day in June when we shall proudly receive our diplomas, knowing that we have learned at F.H.S. what it takes to be good citizens, thus making this a better world in which to live. Class Historian, MARTHA FARLEY We, the Class of 1954, being sound in both mind and body (Ha Ha) attest to the fact that this document is our official Last Will and Testament. We, being the most exalted class ever to enter the hallowed halls of dear F.H.S. — (which stands for Framington High School) — are very happy to leave CLASS BEQUESTS To Mr. Martin we leave a pair of rubber-soled shoes (that do not squeak) so that he will be able to sneak into the boys ' basement more easily. To Mr. Magoon we leave the red flannels, a property from Ever Since Eve, so that he will never again miss the senior play because of a severe cold. To Mr. Dubins we leave an illustrious nickname and 69 cents to buy a pair of flashy socks to replace his other ones. To Franky Panky Fauntleroy Galvani we, the class of 1954, return the steam roller which he left behind in 1937. (See 1937 Philomath). To Miss Oliva we leave a bottle of Doctor Fiorillo ' s Snake Oil which can cure all ailments, even those rare cases which the boys in our school seem to con- tract very easily. To Miss Ducas, our worthy class advisor, we leave a bottle of hair restorer to replace the hair pulled out during the reign of our dear class. We, the field hockey stars of ' 54, leave our heartfelt sympathy to Coach Bowker because she has to build a team out of the bunch of cream puffs left be- hind us. To Mr. Meegan we leave a bottle of his own blend of Meegan ' s Miracle Muscle Builder out of which two spoonfuls should be taken after each laboratory class. This will restore his vim and vigor after his harrow- ing experience. PERSONAL BEQUESTS I, Mike Cyrano de Bergerac Ferragamo, leave my petite schnozzola to Donald Wanna Bacouba Cap- obianco. May he guard it all. I, Elaine Loquacious Gray, the protege of Bill Sher- man (of WKOX fame), leave my extraordinary gift of gab to anyone who can speak 100 words a minute. I, Craig G-Man No. 2 Martenson, leave my summer jobs to anyone who wants tc collect food during the day and dispense it at night. I, Eileen Get-out-of-my-way Tosti, leave my bull- dozing tactics around school to Lee Bunk Carlson to use on the gridiron. I, Jimmy Pietro Halliday, leave my blushes to any- one in the Junior Class who can match my complex- ion. I, Agna La Stupide Boass, leave my remarkable French vocabulary to Walter Le Brillant Winchen- back. I, David Two-ton Tony Cobb, leave my Charles Atlas figure to Joe Stretch Pellegri. To the future captain of next year I, Judy Simon Le- gree Connors, leave my cat-of-nine-tails which was used to prod this year ' s Cheerleaders on to great heights. We, the undersigned, hereby sign this will in considera- tion of the writers, Phyllis Foglioni and Ernest Bel- fort i, and will be responsible for any court action brought against them.
