70 159 PRINCIPAUS MESSAGE We live in a world of extensive contrasts, extremes of prosperity and great differences of opinion. While prosperity is being enioyed by many in our country, there exists extreme poverty and much hunger in some parts of the world. Peace exists here at home, but strife, suffering and death prevail in Vietnam and other war-torn countries. Even at home the civil rights and liberties of all are recognized in some sections of our great nation while in other localities they are the causes of school-segregation problems and serious riots with great destruction of property. Changes are needed, they are necessary for the solution of these and the other serious problems of the times. However, to be effective and to avoid the creation of even greater problems in the future, careful studies, intensive evaluations, and serious planning must precede the decisions. Gur great country depends upon you, the Class of Woo, and the other graduates of our schools and colleges, to perform the tasks necessary to improve the conditions of our world today. Your responsi- bility is a great one. You have now, or will soon ac- quire, the necessary attitudes, and knowledge of methods to deal successfully with the business of today and the problems of tomorrow. Regardless of the career you may select, you will play an active part in your community and so in world affairs. Our future depends upon your willingness to serve. Framingham South High School extends to you our most sincere wish for your success and happi- ness in the future. Sincerely yours, Ralph J. Martin, Principal

J ass 0 1966 PRESIDENTS MESSAGE We are very fortunate to have graduated into a world which is so eager to accept sound, young minds. However, anyone who is unprepared for this world will face many problems. That is why we realize these past four years have been such an integral part of our lives. The knowledge we have accumulated, the habits we have formed, and the attitudes we have taken will remain with us always. As we look back, we may think that high school was difficult at times, as it often was. But it was noth- ing compared to the challenge we are about to face. At Framingham South we have received a fine education, thanks to the dedication of our admin- istration and faculty. But the real job is up to us. If we have worked conscientiously, we should be prepared to meet the challenge imposed by life in a changing, unsettled world and to overcome it. As we are about to open the door to that future which we have been so long anticipating, let us resolve to strive for success in all we attempt so that we may do our part for the betterment and peace of the world. I would like to give special thanks to Mr. Martin for his understanding guidance, and to our very devoted class advisor, Mr. Edmond, for all his time and assistance. My sincerest gratitude is extended to each of you who contributed in any way-aca- demically, athletically, or socially-to make our class one of the greatest ever, and especially for the pride and honor you bestowed upon me by allowing me to be president of the Class of 1966. l wish you great success in all your endeavors, and a very happy future. Sincerely yours, fjL'V5!Z nf 0491, fJc2,izICzQ9 Anthony P. DeSantis lll ill lf- 9 O 111- 7
