CORBIN MAY, 1932 - AUGUST, 1949 KKCLJJ ajweafory In the early days of September, 1948, a tremendous shock hit that renowned educa- tional institution, Framingham High School. Was it an atom bomb? Was it an earth- quake? Of course not. This event was far more world-shaking - it was the entrance of the class of 1951 into the sacred halls of F. H. S. We were Sophomores, the lowest form of animal life, about to embark on our high school career. After deciphering the information in the convenient little handbook and receiving wrong directions from the ever-helpful marshals, we became familiar with the rules and customs - especially the customs - of our new school. We really considered ourselves a valuable part of the machinery in October when heaven's gift to man, the Seniors, condescended to throw a shindig for us. Previous to this surprise we harbored suspicions that the upper-classmen did not realize that we were alive and kicking, however, the successful Senior-Soph made us feel right at home. Luckily another beloved, long awaited experience - term exams - came to us soon after this first dance. Being strong of heart and mind, our Sophs nonchalantly breezed through these unimportant quizzes. A few weeks and ninety-eight vitamin pills later, each homeroom sent its represen- tative to the holy of holies, the Student Council. We then proceeded to strengthen our influence by choosing class officers. After a fast and furious struggle there emerged Duilio Civitenga as president, Elaine Christo as vice-president, Helen Adam as secretary, and Dolores Abu as treasurer. The voting bug continued to bite as we elected Miss Ethel B. Wiley as class advisor, voted in our contribution for cluttering the halls, the marshals, and once again chose legislators for the Student Council. During our first year of high school we watched Framingham win fame in hockey, +'ll and golf. Naturally without the valuable aid of the accomplished athletes of these iictories would have been totally impossible. In a brief period of time -.-oved ourselves efficient, industrious, capable members of F. H. S. fModesty ' -.ir chief virtues.j june, me month of brides and roses, arrived as it does every year. Sadly we aban- doned orr books while we ran, not walked, to the nearest exit and a summer of peace and quiet. da .dly had the ambitious class of 1951 settled down for a long summers nap than the Hrsi joyous day of school came. However, having been through the mill for ten months, we easily slipped into the old routines. We were middlemen this year, tottering between silly Sophs and sophisticated Seniors. Since junior year seems to be -synonymous with committee year, we lent our much-needed services to such worthy activities as the annual Christmas projects. Who of us will ever forget the close bond of good-fellowship anfl the warm feelings of satisfaction brought about by the knowledge that we were helping the hungry and the needy? After the February vacation a thrill, a veritable miracle, awaited us. A new, modern cafeteria with C-1-I-A-I-R-S was ready. When we had recovered from the shock of sitting down at lunch, we began to prepare plans for the great social event of the year, the junior Prom. Our committees slaved day and night fwell, at least dayj in order to give the Seniors a memorable farewell party. Needless to say our Prom, which used Cinder- ella as its theme, attracted many guys and dolls dressed to kill in best bib and tucker. As spring of 1950 progressed, our thoughts turned not to love, but to elections. The wheels of politics began to grind again. The air filled with vigorous campaign speeches, and the walls filled with convincing posters. After due deliberation our class cast its votes for officers. U . . . M M , 1 1 4 1 , . aaa if This year, like no other, will be the saddest in Framingham High School's history. It is the year that we, the great and fabulous class of one thousand nine hundred and fifty one will leave the academy and take our place in the world. The joys we have brought to the faculty, the guidance we have given our undergraduates, and the prompt- ness with which we have returned our report cards will be but memories. However, we shall not forget the before-mentioned in this document, our last will and testament. Living up to traditional standards, we bequeath and bequest some of our worldly but mostly our unworldly possessions. Let it be said that we shall haunt the halls of F. H. S. until our last wish is carried out. Let it not be said that we consider the under- classmen and faculty undeserving of the possessions we are now about to thrust upon them. 1. We, the only class in the history of F. H. S. that has ever scared off three class advisors, bequeath our scientific knowledge, secret hush-hush skills in the art of forging, cutting classes, and skipping school to the inexperienced Sopho- mores, with the hope that they will catch on as quickly as we did. 2. To Mr. Magoon, we leave a new P.A. system, guaranteed to reach the inside world with an automatic bell signal that plays a chorus of Hit that Line. 3. To the junior boys, fSophomores are still a little youngj we leave a transparent electric wall between the boys' gym and the girls' gym. 4. To Mr. Bush, we bequeath an automatic defrosting refrigerator so that he may save that valuable time instead of running down to the lunch room, also it may be used to punish tardy pupils the modern way, quick freeze. 5. To Mrs. McConnon, we leave a message of good cheer along with an unbreak- able plastic record, entitled, What do you want ? 6. We, in the class of 1951, being of a generous nature, leave one clothes pin to each member of this institution for those days when the experiments in the chemistry lab give off an odor that would knock anyone for a loop. 7. To Mrs. Moody, we award an Oscar for directing a play not requiring one prompt! fSee, we're really not hopeless.j We also leave her one dozen dough- nuts to pull her through next year's performance. 8. We leave to Miss Parren and Mr. Jones a deodorizing system for the locker rooms so that these rooms will smell more like the Ritz Carlton than like the Third Street gym. 9. To Miss Hobbs, we leave a supersonic jet plane so that she and the Student Council can fly to London to get a first-hand view of Parliamentary Procedure. i 10. To the school, we bequeath the money and devise the plans to build a subway to and from the lunch room. And now for the more personal bequests: 1 2 3 4 5 6 7 8 9 i 1 0 I, Duilio Civitenga, leave to some Don juan in the junior Class my big flashy smile and my own little book, entitled, How to Capture a Girls Heart in One Easy Lesson . We, the veteran cheerleaders, leave to those characters who think they can out- cheer a town called Natick, four sets of vocal cords, fallen arches, stringy hair, and all the energy we have left. They'll need it! I, Eileen Eagan, leave my ability to talk myself into getting a free lunch every day just by complaining about the food to anyone in the Sophomore Class who thinks he can get away with it. I, Okie O'Connell, leave to Reid Wagstaff my loud shirts and power to electrify the eyes of teachers and students with my flashy, snazzy colors. We, the marshal force, leave a reserved force for next year's group who will find it will be necessary for reasons beyond their control. I, jack Sheehy, leave my drag with the faculty and my mental powers to anyone who thinks he can measure up to my standards. We, Jeanne Casey and Pauline Heaton, leave to the incoming Senior typing class, two battered old typewriters. Enclosed in these you will End zingernails and erasure crumbs which serve the same purpose as gum. I, Dick D'Alessandro, the biggest little guy in F. H. S., leave my golden gloves to any junior boy who can fight his way through the Senior Class. We, the residents of the Hemenway Bowling Establishment, better known as The Hole , leave our gold inlaid pool cues to the junior boys, with the best wishes to hold up the fort as well as we did. I, jo Ann Goslant, leave my personality and desirable qualities which have been successful in entrancing the opposite sex, to Joanne Pavia, who also does all right for herself . To bring this illustrious document to a close, we, the undersigned, duly witness this will written on the Hrst day of March by our lawless lawyers, Audrey Chisholm and Nathaniel Rutter. We now affix our seal God save the Commonwealth of Massa PV' 1 JEAN MULLEN BETSY TOPHAM JACK SHEEHY CLAIRE FREEMAN sa. f witnessed by: ! j 67 2 i . Am . l , chasers . We are now on our Own.
