Vllisaitas The Tri-Hi-Y, an interdenominational club, arlili- ated with the Hi-Y Club, was originally founded as part of the Y.M.C.A. Its purpose is to establish higher standards of character for its members, in order that they might be better equipped for a well-rounded life. The burning torch is symbolic of the club's undying activities. Tri- st.1nds for the three factors which tl1e club upholds: Self-Improvement, Christian lfellowship and United Service. The objectives of the club are: To Seek, To Find. To Share. In keeping with their standards, their ideals and their desire to aid the less fortunate people, it is not surprising to learn than the Tri-Hi-Y, in association with the Hi-Y, was largely responsible for the organi- zation and success of the March of Dimes Campaign in our community. The junior-Senior Tri-Hi-Y, under the direction of Miss Verna Hampton, has conducted several very en- joyable dances. The financial gain from these social events was used in the further development and ini- provement of the club. The oihccrs of this club are as follows: President. Nelda Shadleg Yice-President, plane Montgomery: Secretary, Nlary Tomkog Treasur- er, Anna Dura. The Freshman Tri-Hi-Y Club under the leadership of their President, -Ioan Hornbergerg Vice-President. joan Smarr: Secretary, Annette Ciekavage, and Treas- urer, jane Herb, is following in the footsteps of the sister club. Under the gentle guidance of Nlrs. lldna Bliekley, it is already gaining recognition as an up and coming organization. gr' fifty-wx

In recent years, the Junior and Senior Hi-Y club has grown in seniority until it ranks as the leading club for boys in Frackville High School. An important phase of Hi-Y activities is the field of sports. For the past two years the club has been rep- resented in a basketball league at the Pottsville Y.M.C.A. The squad is composed of ten club members. Striking blue and gold uniforms have been purchased for the team. The Senior and Junior Hi-Y has been noted for its numerous activities but who could ever forget the cry of Hotdogs at the football games, the bustling busi- ness of refreshments at basketball games and Room ll, the supply room for hungry students, or the joint dances held between the Senior and Junior Hi-Y and Tri Hi-Y clubs? In the past school year, the club was well represented at the Hi-Y Rally at Pottsville and the Older Boys' Conference at Allentown. Another new activity was the sponsoring of the March of Dimes program in Fraekville by the Hi-Y and Tri Hi-Y clubs. The Junior and Senior Hi-Y was organized in 1936 and the charter was received in 1938. Since this time the club has been under the very capable supervision of Mr. Charles C. Wagner. Although the Freshman Hi-Y is an infant, under the supervision of Mr. Jack James, it is following in the footsteps of its big brother, the older club. JUNIOR AND SENIOR HT-Y l'irst Row: C.
