Its publication has been made possible by the kindness of our advertisers and subscribers When we first conceived the idea of publish- ing a Review this year we met skepticism on eyery srde And yet upon assigning to our super salesman the merchants in this com munity we found the expected indifference really to be enthusiasm and wrllrngness to advertise We therefore wrsh at this pornt to thank all those whose generosity has brought about the revival of the Academy Review We are especially grateful to Mrss Betty Cooper the Senior Claso adviser whose time devoted so unstintrngly to our Review has greatly assisted rn making thro book the suc cess that rt rs We wrsh lrkewrse to extend our thanks to Miss Elizabeth Eames who has ard ed rn correcting the articles submitted and to Miss Madelyn Ballard who has so graciously served as official typrst for the 1936 Review This book rs truly a publication of the stu dents of Foxcroft Academy All material printed herein ha been submitted by students of the various classes Among our erstwhile indifferent students we have awakened an rn terest in working even rn wrrtrng for our year book It rs our sincere hope that this Review w1ll please all readers As a begrnnrng let me sugget our Joke Section as a cure for your blues And all you former graduates dont mrss the splendid Alumni pages wherein you will find the addresses of all your pals And lastly do not fail to read the Drgnrfied Seniors personals' Believe me they are well vyorth your time' May each reader enjoy ever article and may he receive uflicrent re muneratron rn the reading for the price paid for the Review' L LOST STRA YED OR STOLEN An inanimate object cannot walk Iwatural ly that would be contrary to the rules f science Yet rt rs amazing how often things at school seem t disappear Lost strayed or stolen? If the article cant walk rt must be lo t r stolen Perhaps stolen rs a drs tasteful yyord to use Lets say borrowed But so often like books the borrowed b ject rs ney er returned Probably many people rn s hool r sponsrble for the drwrppearan e of property haye no tlrouf-ht of tealrng but rf they thrnk to bor roy mrght they not think to return They sh uld stop to realize that perhaps the per on from yyhom they are borr yyrng hasnt more to buy somethin neyy lt really is seldom necessary to b r yy one ryrll explain his trouble to the tra lrtr he get help A sch 0' rs Ill rs lr pupils rnfrke rt Why ne dle sly make lrfr nr re dlmlllll for someone els 'P EL SCHOOL LOYALTY Whenever loyalty is suggested, we immedi- ately think of faith in allegiance. Yet in school this definition must 'be slightly alter- ed. Here, instead of pledging allegiance audibly, we accept a creed inwardly and silently. Loyalty, a term so frequently uttered bv school authorrtres includes active inter vention rn school affairs at crucial moments when the laws and properties are being scorn ed and destroyed Regardless of his personal feelings a loyal student wrll report any un farr methods used by his fellow students or wrll rnvestrgate the conduct of any group which rs seeking to profit unfairly or rs neglecting an obvrous duty In conclusion rt ro important to note that the character and reputation of a fnhool can be maintained only through the loyalty of the student body itself L THE TOWN LIBRARY Many fail to realize what an opportunity the library offers It IS open eight and a half hours every day for srx days rn the week Many of the libraries rn the surrounding towns are open for not more than a few hours every week Not only do we have ample time rn which to use the library but we have a wealth of material There are approximately 20000 books rn our library There are 15 sets of encyclopedras 63 magazines and three daily newspapers All of this extensive ma terral IS ours free of charge Just remember that when we deface or destroy a book we are not only destroying somethlng that belongs to us but something that belong., to every crtrzen of this town The library serves the school as well as the town It rs well supplied with books for Eng l1sh reviews It has approximately 760 books that are on the approved book lrst for high schools Ani book except an encyclopedia may be taken for work rn any subject The lrbrarran rs always wrllrng to help the student with hrs drfilcultres Our librarian Miss Louise Monroe rs a per son who renders us eryrce which we could hardly do without Her work rs devoted to making our lives more enjoyable darly through the pastime of reading She knows all the likes and dislikes of us who use the library yyrth anv degree of regularity and rs ready to recommend a book yyhrch she knows rye yyrll enjoy If you haye not taken much rntere t rn the library make a yrsrt Tell the lrbrarran what types of books ou like You yyrll find that she rs gracr us and yyrllrng to help you Dont lefrye the library immediately Go srt rn the reading room and enjoy the quiet 'illd Sens of restfulness yy hrch the atmosphere of books crn grye Once you learn the yalue of the library you will hare added something to your store of pleasure that make lrfe yyorth lryrn , ' ' ' V . .
