Superinlendentfs Message Not long ago I was asked to state my favorite quotation. YVithout hesitating a minute I said: 'iNo one should do that which it everyone did would destroy societyfi It is a long time since I learned those Words. I Wont tell you how long, hut it Was the first day that I attended high school, and for the next three years they were drilled into me hy our high school principal at every assemhly. By the time graduation arrived, No one should do that which if everyone did would destroy societyf' ran through my mind at least once a day and it has never stopped appearing in my thoughts. All sorts of advice will be given to the Class of 1950. Some of you will accept the sagacious words of your elders and progress may he a little faster and perhaps some of the pitfalls may he avoided. Good advice is Worth heeding and I am confident you will listen and he governed accordingly. I have no formula for assuring you of happiness or success. You will have your good days and bad days in spite of any planned Way of living, and you will find laughter abounding at times when you are low with sorrow. And in the same manner, there will be depressed individuals near at hand, if you will hut search, When you are riding on top of the World. Thatis lifel Good luck to you. And here is my offering, a quotation for you to re- peat and to determine Where its message fits into your life pattern: uNo one should do that which it everyone did would destoy societyf' joHN BLACKHAL1.
