Workers lift the new lights into place around the athletic field. The campus was given a facelift in many areas this year. New cafeteria ables brightened the looks of the lunchroom and gave everyone a little more oom to spread out. Several weight machines were replaced in the weight 'oom with a new universal gym. The older universal gym and other weights Nere distributed to the three junior highs. 4 L l'The new weightlifting machines are pretty nice, although it's really crowd- ed in the weight room since they arrived, commented Mark Parra. Eleven new Apple computers were added to provide greater accessibility to 'he computers for all classes. XVe've set aside computers for classes to do lab work, explained Mr. 3'Connor. One of the more visible improvements this year was the construction of a :overed walkway connecting the shop, art, and music departments to the main building. l'lt was sorely needed, remarked senior Laurie Beard. I was tired of walking into my art classes soaking wet and with my hair ftlzzingf' Certainly the biggest addition to the campus this year is the construction of the new track. UA track at the high school is long overdue, we have had to drive to other schools for the last five years, commented Mr. Sauer. We have been waiting a long time to provide our students with the facilities for track meets, added the director. Several years of fundraising spearheaded by involved parents John and Ruth Prapotnik were necessary to pay for the new facilities, The new track is expected to be completed during the summer. Also new are overhead lights for the track and football fields, which were added in May. Although construction has not yet begun, 1984 will be remem- bered as the year Fox began work on the new auditorium. l'The architect has been selected and is working on the auditorium now, said Mt. O'Connor. Students anxiously await the new auditorium for drama, radio-television, and music events while they enjoy the other improvements made. Facelift - S1
