A secondary mission was performed in providing support for our strike air- ' craft over the target. FOX is proud to have assisted in the rescue of close to a dozen A downed airmen while serving in the Gulf and performed another FOX FIRST by - twice controlling Navy interceptor air- craft into engagements with the enemy aircraft. The result of these engagements was the downing of two MIG aircraft, the first two ship-controlled intercepts of the Vietnam Conflict. RADM Freeman
