Fox Chapel is proud of the following award-winning artists: At the western Pennsylvania Scholastic Art and Craft Awards Exhibit, gold key winners were Cynthia Krause, Brad Newton, and Susan Powers. Place win- ners were Rich Armstrong, Suzy Barnes, Rod Cole, Ann Donaldson, Chris Doran, jack Freeman, Patty Gallagher, Jennifer Guch, Tory Hill, John Holmes, Ron Iesillowski, Marleen Kay, Deane Kelly, Kathy Kuza, Suzette Procopio, Vicky Rall, Bob Scinico, Cindy Stride, Lynne Timko, Sharon Trocki, and Karen Waibel. Gold key winners whose work was selected as finalists to go on to New York for national com- petition were Ann Bell, Carmania Costanzo, Jim Krieg, and Chris Stride. Gold Medal winners at the National Scholastic Art Awards Exhibit in New York were Rachel Matthews Q3 certificates of merit, gold key finalists, one of 8 national gold medalists in craftsj, and joe Blue fl certificate of merit, 2 gold key finalists, one of 20 national gold medalists in jewelryj. Kathy McFarland's poster won first prize in her division at the Humane Society International Poster Contest in japan. 1970 Shady Side Academy Invitational Show Place winners were: Joe Blume, joe Iirancioni, Chris Stride, Christy Allen, jim Krieg and Ann Bell, who won a 353000, first prize cash award in jewelry.
