The 1970 team kept the sports momentum going along with football, soccer, and wrestling. Led by co-captains, George Wil- liams and Frank Christy, the other starters consisted of Bob McCormick, Dave Thomas, and Rich Soeder. The Foxes ended the season with a strong 12 wins and 10 losses. In the eight exciting pre-season exhibition games, the Foxes won four, losing to Highlands in 5 overtimes and to Deer Lakes by one point. Many of the section games were close, and the one point losses to Moon and North Allegheny were heartbreaking. The Foxes gave Section 10 a run for the championship by knocking off North Allegheny in the next to last game of the season, but finally losing to Montour. The highlight of the season was the exciting victory over previously unbeaten Penn Hills which was the game in which the Foxes put it all together and no one could have beaten them. The j.V. Foxes ended the season with a record of eight wins and 14 losses, but they were in most of their games. Co-captained by Steve McCoy and Andy Peters, and joined by Bob Baker soon after the season started, the j.V. Foxes were quick enough, but lacked much under the boards. Transfer student, jerry Dacus, brightened the picture for next year, as all of the first nine on the varsity were seniors. With a lot of hard work this summer, the future looks bright for Coach Sauer.
