un.. .. - Not even tennis balls get by Scott! ln 1968 the Varsity Tennis Team was faced with the problem of rebuilding after the graduation of all but one of the regular players from last year. Scott Hutchinson, the 9951 singles player, was the only returning letterman. The two other seniors on the team were Mauricio Moreno and ,lohn Bell. The rest of the team was made up of sophomores Eric Horne, Dave Miller, ,lon Flint, and Wes Walters. The season started out with losses to Churchill, Franklin, and Oakmont. Then the boys won 4-1 matches from Kiski Prep and Avonworth. After four losses, the team again beat Avonworth, this time 3-2. The season closed with a second victory over Kiski Prep. Overall, the team had a record of four wins and eight losses, despite a strong desire to win. Some of the players were at a disadvantage, due to a lack of varsity experience. Things look very promising for the next two years because of the many outstanding sophomores on the Varsity and Junior Varsity squads.
