Wrestling Team Is Charaeterized Fox Chapelis wrestling team grows better with each season as the new Junior High provides an abundance of young wrestlers. As always, though, it was the seniors, Gene Becker and Art Sphar, who led the team to a 4-9 record. Becker, with a personal record of fourteen wins and two losses, led the following senior lettermen: Jim Anderson, Gene Becker, John Bell, Scott Hutchinson, Jim Link, Jim Lombardi, Phil Smith, Dave Trozzo, and John Yvolfendale. On February 23-24, the team, coached by Mr. Caldwell and Mr. McDowell, participated iI1 the W.P.I.A.L. Section 8 Tournament. First round winners were Jim Lombardi, 120 lbs.g Jim Anderson, 127 lbs., Mark Puntereri, 154 lbs.g and Gene Becker, 180 lbs. Becker was the only one to reach the finals where he lost 5-4. With a good nucleus of underclassmen returning and a good group of freshman wrestlers, the team is expecting to improve next year as they have done each year in the past.
