Personal Well-Being Is Emphasized Ir With the increase in the number of gym classes, it was necessary tc add several new units to the boys' gym curriculum. The instructors also felt that in order to make the course more enjoyable and' beneficial. a program with greater variety was needed. A three week cross country unit and a unit of tennis were featured for the first time. Senior girls participated in an individual sports program during thi second semester. Included in the wide range of sports offered to the girl- were tennis, archery, badminton, and shuffleboard. Student teachers as- sisted in the teaching of the girls' gym classes this year for the first time. The two student teachers were Miss Betty Snider and Miss Sharen Watson. both from Slippery Rock State College. In Home Economics, three girls were presented with honors. The Betty Crocker Award went to Paula Beck, and the Outstanding Homemaker award was shared by Cindy Lisowski and Evie Freidhof. These girls represented our school and the Future Holnemakers of America at the I'Iarrisburg Farm Show Demonstration in January. Mr. Zempelis favorite hobby is flying. Miss Davis would have liked to have been an airline hostess. Mr. Crindlefs favorite color is 'cblue ffor first place.f' Italian foods are Miss Cregoryis favorite dishes. Mrs. Schnorr likes Martin Denny's exotic jazz. Mr. Clarke is interested in model railroarling. 4451111 and funn is Mr. Boyleis favorite recreation and he would have liked to have been an owner of a professional sports francliisef, Mrs. Grindle and Mrs. Martin like the color red. Mr. Grindlc supervises thc side-show.

Head of Department. MISS VIRGINIA BERC-MARK B.S. Indiana University of Pa., M.Ed. University of Pittsburgh. Teaches: Data Processing, Office Machines. Advises: Junior-Senior Prem. Only one Industrial Arts faculty member likes to chaperone. Mr. Domyslawski would have liked to have been a psychiatrist. Mr. McDowell,s favorite type of literature is Mad Mr. Yakupkovich would have liked to have been a star on Mission Impossiblef, Mr. Nikhazy likes organ music. Mr. Bobby's favorite sport is ping-pong. Mr. McDowell likes to rebuild old cars. Mr. Yakupkovich likes the Fox Tales. A new course in the Business Department was Data Processing I. This course was made possible by the establish- ment of the IBM room in room IOI. There are four classes in this course, and the students are taught the theory work behind the setting and processing of computerized informa- tion. There are Lab periods where students wire up actual control panels and then test them. Each control panel is the heart to a computerized problem. Mr. Graff, the new Data Processing Manager, helps students punch cards and sort them. This year the Work Experience Program enters its third year. In the second semester, seniors are given half-day secretarial jobs for eleven weeks. This is the second year that these students have been paid for their services. nd Business Skills a MISS CAROLYN DAVIS MISS MARION KLUG B.S. Grove City College, M.Ed. B.S. University of Pittsburgh. Committee. vises: Tri-K Club Mr. Makowskiis interesting hobby is taking pictures and keep- ing a pictorial history of his family. Only one Business faculty member likes to chaperone. Miss Stearns would have liked to have been a medical technologist. Mr. Makowskfs favorite outside of schoolv dish is Polish Pirogef, Miss Davisis favorite type of music is show music, while Miss Klug prefers George Gershwinf' Secretarial students receive strict supervision.
